As the scorching summer heat settles in, please spare a thought for our feathered and furry friends around us. Remember - a little can create a ripple. Here are some ways: 1. Keep an open bowl full of water on terraces, balconies, and even street corners 2. Limit outdoor activities that may disturb or stress animals, such as avoiding loud noises, excessive use of machinery, or disturbing nesting areas. 3. Plant trees and shrubs that provide shade and shelter for birds and animals. 4. Encourage your friends, colleagues and family members to be mindful of the challenges faced by birds and animals during the summer. Our planet is for every life form, so let's contribute to a harmonious coexistence with nature. Wishing you a happy Friday and a relaxing weekend ahead! #SummerChallenges #SpareAThought #BirdsAndAnimals #CoexistWithNature

Spring's whispers dance on the breeze, but winter's grip still holds the mountains. Let's keep the adrenaline pumping in our adventures, not the flames, with these tips for a blaze-free March: 🔥Treat sparks like rogue lanterns: Contain them! Fireworks, chainsaws, even campfires – follow local rules and designated areas. Respect burn bans and keep open flames under close observation. 🔥Nature's Sherlock Holmes: Be a sharp-eyed wolf, sniffing out smoke signals, crackling whispers, or anything "off" in the wilds. Don't be a silent witness, report it instantly! Your quick action could be the wilderness detective work this season needs. 🔥Escape Route Trailblazers: Download local evacuation maps and practice your escape plan like prepping for a thrilling treasure hunt. Knowledge is your compass if things get heated. 🔥Drench the Drama: When the fun's over, unleash a water cascade on your campfire. Think icy waterfall, not gentle drizzle! Stir the ashes until every ember shivers in the cold. 🔥Bury the heat: Shovel cool dirt or sand onto the embers, creating a fire-proof blanket. 🔥Feel the Chill: Don't leave until everything's cool to the touch. Trust your fingertips, not just your eyes, to check for hidden heat. Leaving only cold ashes is the ultimate campfire chill-out move. Share the Chill, Not the Cinders: Spread these tips like wildfire awareness on social media! Together, we can build a fire-resistant wilderness paradise. Remember, your March adventures should be filled with breathtaking landscapes, not blazing infernos. Be informed, be cautious, and most importantly, stay safe! @LeaveNoTrace @SmokeyBear #DiscoverCarbonCountyWY #DiscoverCCWY #CarbonCountyWY #carboncountywyo #carboncountywyoming #carboncounty #wyoming #thatswy #thatswyoming #FireSafety #WildfirePrevention #ProtectOurPlanet #WinterWonders #StopWildfires #PreventFires #FireAware #ProtectOurForests #LeaveNoTrace #CampResponsibly #DrownYourCampfire #SparkFree #RespectTheForest

Curious about how non-migrating birds brave Canadian winters? Here are a few ways they survive the cold! Birds have a countercurrent heat exchange system - With blood vessels to and from the feet being in close proximity, facilitating the warming of blood flowing back to the body by the concurrently circulating blood heading to the feet. The newly cooled blood in the feet lowers heat loss from the feet, and the warmed blood flowing back into the body prevents the bird from becoming to cold. And because bird circulation is so fast, blood doesn’t remain in the feet long enough to freeze. Roosting together - While different species do this for a variety of reasons, birds are often seen huddling together for warmth and security as they sleep. Fluffing their feathers- All birds maintain warmth by skillfully fluffing their feathers, creating a protective layer that traps pockets of air around their bodies, effectively insulating them against the cold.
