Sustainability champion who is passionate about building a more innovative, just and sustainable world.
Great wisdom by Katharine Hayhoe “every decision we make is inherently a climate decision – whether we recognize it or not. Our collective choices are crucial: either we are opting to build resilience and equity into our society and accelerate the clean energy transition towards a brighter future; or we are choosing to continue investing in our increasingly vulnerable systems and outdated, polluting energy models, leading to a world mired in economic and geopolitical risks. The choice is ours.”

In 2022 the Climate Leaders Coalition launched the CEO Roadmap to addressing scope 3 emissions through value chain collaboration. As one of the most practical and purpose driven coalitions I know, they didn't stop there. In 2023 focus shifted to enabling as many of their members to accelerate action on reducing scope 3 emissions, which for most organisations are between 65-98% of emissions. Not only is mandatory ISSB and Treasuring reporting accelerating this need, the opportunity for growth and innovation is the big win. Brilliantly led by Gareth O'Reilly and Caroline Ottmann and involving Climate Leaders Coalition members (including the cross section of business to make this transformation happen) and their value chains. Check out insights from the work to scale impact on scope in this update . A good way to end the year with a reflection on the work of the Climate Leaders Coalition on scaling impact on scope 3. Regardless of where your organisation is on the journey to measure, address and report on scope 3 emissions this recent update on the work of the CLC will be useful (a follow up on the Scope 3 Roadmap published in 2022). In a busy year, participation in the Scope 3 working group has been a highlight for me, particularly attending the Catalyst sessions for the opportunity to learn from and explore ideas with other members across different sectors. Ventia participated in a shadow carbon pricing trial as part of the work program too. It makes all the difference when members are willing to share and collaborate to address our collective challenge of value chain emissions. Dean Banks #scalingimpact #scope3emissions
