Today we have produced a new labour market metric, produced by adjusting our headline survey estimates using robust administrative data sources that we receive from other government departments. This maintains the accuracy of our key statistics. Whilst 20.9% economic inactivity appears excessive, it's actually lower than the EU average of 27.1%. However, if the UK truly wants to increase GDP we need to increase our active workforce.
