News from the ECSCI Cluster: EU-CIP Project has opened registrations to the 2nd Annual Conference in Madrid, Spain EU-CIP is pleased to announce that the it will hold its second Annual Conference on Critical Infrastructure Resilience #EUCIP2024, on November, 12 in Madrid, Spain. The conference is organized together with the CIPRE ( Critical Infrastructure Protection and Resilience Europe) partnership within the Critical Infrastructure Protection Week! This year conference will be of the utmost importance to the European policy sector on Critical Infrastructure. The All NEMO Committee held its second Annual Conference on September 19th in Athens 🇬🇷, a city renowned for its rich cultural heritage, as Greece is the cradle of Western democracy, philosophy, and the arts 🏛️. 📣In this context, I would like to share some messages: ✅ There was #unanimous #support for the Electricity Market Design Reform #EMDReform. Though it was initiated during a challenging time for Europe, it has produced highly positive results👏. #NEMOs have been recognized as one of the key pillars of the EMD reform, which acknowledges the benefits of the current Single Day-ahead #SDAC and Intraday #SIDC Couplings. These have contributed significantly to well-functioning short-term markets across Europe 🇪🇺 ⚠️ It is crucial to ensure that the review process for capacity allocation and congestion management #CACM safeguards the #operational #security and reliability of our #SDAC & #SIDC, building on the solid foundation of existing market coupling governance. ✅ The extension of our #SDAC & #SIDC to the #EnergyCommunity #Contracting parties is one of the most relevant projects #NEMOs are dealing with. ✅ In June, #NEMOs, in collaboration with #TSOs, successfully implemented Intraday Auctions #IDAs at the EU level, introducing a new market segment that offers Europe #enhanced #trading #opportunities within the intraday time horizon 🕒 ✅ We are also dedicating significant resources to implementing the #15minute Market Time Unit (#MTU) in SDAC #Next_year 🗓️. This crucial development will provide greater time #granularity to all market participants ⏱️ ✅ The European institutions can rely on the continued support of NEMOs in this new 🇪🇺#EU cycle 🔄. The All NEMO Committee is committed to offering its full support and expertise to President Von der Leyen and the future College of Commissioners. ✅Various elements of the #EUGreenDeal rely on a market-based approach, and our #SDAC and #SIDC mechanisms are delivering the right signals for Europeans to invest in low-carbon technologies 🌍🔋 #MoreEurope 🇪🇺 and #MoreMarkets will be pivotal in delivering a decarbonized 🌱 and competitive EU 💪

As signatories, CEMA, EUROMOT aisbl, EPTA, FEPA Publications, Euralarm, and EUnited aisbl proudly represent industries crucial to developing and upholding a resilient and reliable framework for setting standards in Europe. We fully support the EU Strategy on Standardisation’s goal of enhancing the functionality and agility of the European standardisation system. As the evaluation of Regulation (EU) 1025/2012 approaches, we see a valuable opportunity to reinforce transparency, scrutiny, and democratic values within European standardisation. By doing so, we can also enhance the flexibility of our standards on the international stage, providing European industry with a crucial competitive edge. To achieve these goals, we propose: 1️- Transparent rules for Formal Objections. 2- Defined timelines for the standardisation process. 3- Clear proceedings for the definition of transition periods for Harmonised European Standards (hEN). 4-  Regular publication at fixed dates of new hENs in the Official Journal of the EU.  

In addition to spearheading major projects for the development of Brazilian cities, IPGC conducts vital research with the same goal. In 2022, the CePID - Research, Innovation and Development Center was established to incorporate innovation into our initiatives. By using pre-feasibility methodologies for Smart City PPPs, we aim to understand what makes a municipality capable of structuring a project. This study highlighted the necessity of empowering all municipalities in Brazil, advancing the regionalization process. This effort has been essential for ensuring the success of city development solutions. And since such an important initiative cannot rely on research alone, IPGC continues to advance! #IPGCBrasil #PPP #CEPID

with the evaluation of the Regulation (EU) 1025/2012, we like to stress the importance of standards for industry, but also point to improvements that can be made for faster release of harmonised standards and more workable internal procedures for the harmonisation and formal objection processes.

We present the new IPGC proposal, Intelligent Arrangements. This initiative aims to expand the Smart City concept throughout the country, while also addressing structural challenges within the Brazilian federative pact, such as municipal fragmentation and the dispersion of the Municipal Participation Fund. To completely comprehend the significance of this associated management, it is essential to reflect on the current configuration of Brazil’s 5.570 municipalities and the 1.250 with fewer than 5.000 inhabitants. Our objective is public spending intelligence, and Intelligent Arrangements represent the pathway to achieving it, fostering a more balanced and sustainable development for all. #IPGCBrasil #PPP
