G20 Brasil 2024 Digital Economy Working Group will focus on the social aspects of #AI by asking politicians to address the following questions: 1. How can Artificial Intelligence systems be effectively used by governments and businesses with a view to improving the living conditions of different social groups, particularly the marginalized? 2. Are there ways to mitigate inequality among countries in terms of national capabilities in Artificial Intelligence, including in relation to computational infrastructure? 3. How can we ensure that datasets used to train artificial intelligence systems are representative of local contexts? 4. Looking forward to the AI for Good Global Summit 2024 organized by the ITU and over 40 UN agencies, taking place in Geneva on May 30-31. It focuses on leveraging AI to meet the UN Sustainable Development Goals, featuring key discussions on AI applications, governance, and global collaboration with experts and innovators from various sectors. Notable figures like UN Secretary-General António Guterres and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman will speak at the summit. The #G7 Ministerial meeting on Industry, Technology, and Digital took place in Verona and Trento from March 13th to 15th. The first day primarily addressed the application of #ArtificialIntelligence and emerging technologies in the industrial sector, the security of #supplychains and networks and promoting sustainable #digital development globally, focusing on #Africa. The second day shifted the spotlight to Artificial Intelligence's role in the #publicsector, #digitalgovernance, and supporting the implementation of the #HiroshimaProcess outcomes on #AI. The event concluded with the adoption of a Joint Declaration. GenAI is hyped for letting us search through enormous amounts of data and tailor text, images, and videos to our needs. But every query costs energy and water. AI is developed with the help of many people labeling pictures or giving feedback to the system. Copyright infringements are still happening. The resulting models can be used for disinformation and surveillance and may disrupt many current jobs, increasing the risk of an ever-wider social divide in income and working conditions. I am therefore engaging in Accenture's efforts to drive #responsible and #inclusive AI development. Let's make sure the ethical development and usage outweigh the unethical development and usage.

#Japan has recently released comprehensive Artificial Intelligence Guidelines for Business. These guidelines aim to assist businesses in understanding and addressing AI-related risks, aligning with global trends and stakeholder concerns. Japan has been actively engaged in international discussions on AI, making significant contributions in forums such as the G7, G20, and OECD - OCDE. These guidelines reflect Japan's commitment to a balanced and cooperative approach to AI regulation. Today is the UN’s first AI Governance Day! Representatives across industry, academia, civil society, and UN agencies, from over 70 countries, will convene in Geneva today to officially kick off the AI for Good Global Summit 2024. The KT4D project sees this event as an excellent opportunity to discuss #Democracy and #AI with diverse global speakers from #public and #private sectors exploring how democracy is evolving with new #Technologies. The event will feature many European representatives, emphasising Europe's pioneering AI Act and its impact on democracy, as discussed in KT4D's policy brief and article series on AI and democracy. Artificial Intelligence and AI governance have undeniably emerged as focal points in the global discourse. This led to the proliferation of international discussions on the topic within multilateral fora and partnerships. In this context, the #G7, this year under the Italian presidency, serves as a crucial platform for advancing discussions and building consensus on #AIgovernance. In a new publication, Ettore Greco, Federica Marconi and Francesca Maremonti outline 4 recommendations for the G7 to take the conversation forward and ensure effective implementation and interoperability of allied AI regulatory frameworks: 1. G7 governments should prioritize investments in trustworthy AI innovation within both the public sector and SMEs. 2. G7 governments should invest in educational programs and employment of underrepresented groups in the AI field, promote interdisciplinary investments to address AI's social implications, and embed ethical considerations into AI systems to promote inclusivity and minimize inequalities. 3. G7 governments should encourage and facilitate collaboration among diverse stakeholders. 4.
