Horrific Abuse in children’s services was in the media this week - the next few weeks we will see proactivity because humans sadly work faster when in damage control. Make your policies contextual to your practice - how do you include body safety and consent into your curriculums? Have you informed families of how their children can raise concerns when at your service? Today Im in NSW (with a lean to NSW Standards) but quality practices are useful regardless of your jurisdiction- Standards are a bare minimum/ you can always improve your requirements if your location hasn’t emphasised a specific requirement- Asserting a Culture of Child Safety I have written for educators to use as a tool to continue to utilise when building capacity in this subject https://lnkd.in/ggTQJni9 https://lnkd.in/gshavQA9

Internship🏆 | Volunteering💡| Workshops👨🏫 | Social Events🏁 Vision: To Bring Sustainable Livelihood🧘♀️Focus: Physical & Mental Health Awareness 👼
In a world where child safety is increasingly at risk, education is the most potent tool for prevention. Workshops like the one organized by the Anon Global Foundation at Summer Fields School, Kailash Colony serve as invaluable resources for empowering children with the knowledge and skills to protect themselves from harm. By fostering open dialogue, promoting awareness, and teaching essential safety measures, we can create safer environments where children can thrive without fear. Children often lack the knowledge and vocabulary to identify and articulate inappropriate touch. Therefore, workshops like these play a pivotal role in providing them with the necessary information and skills to recognize and respond to various forms of touch appropriately. Knowing when and how to seek help is essential for children's safety. The workshop equipped students with the knowledge of whom to approach if they encounter an unsafe touch, whether it be a teacher, parent, or helpline. #ChildSafety #EmpowerChildren #SafeTouch #UnsafeTouch #ProtectingChildren #EducationForSafety #Boundaries #ConsentAwareness #WorkshopsForKids #AnonGlobalFoundation #SummerFieldSchool

In my little town, we have several fire companies. One, in particular, goes around to preschools and elementary schools in October (Fire Prevention Month) and gives talks to kids about preventing home fires. The Firefighter who does these presentations is locally famous, and her name is Firefighter Lisa. 🧯 Both my kids have heard her talk numerous times, and kids recognize her at the grocery store, etc. Anyway, I feel like Firefighter Lisa. And not just because we share a name. For the better part of 14 years, I have been helping parents fix their individual situation with their IEP. In other words, putting out fires. But I haven't taught enough parents how to prevent the fires--how to install smoke detectors, what the smoke detectors look like, and when to replace the batteries. It's a great analogy. 🔥 Because I put out the fire, most of it anyway. Then it starts up again in 2-5 years. As soon as situations change or personnel changes...I hear from the same families. And I grab the fire extinguisher and go put it out. In 2020, I changed my strategy. I'm going to teach you how I fight these fires. Not just how to put them out, but how to prevent them. How to recognize when it's smoldering, and get it before it's a huge dumpster inferno. 🧯 So far, we've taught 100s of parents. Join me, this is not to be missed: https://lnkd.in/e7HeqBdC
