In the most courteous and respectful manner, I want to express my dedication to upholding the principles of girl code and fostering a safe environment for models and photographers within my platforms. Over a year ago, I established a local safety group to ensure this commitment, where members can attest to my stance on valuing everyone's experiences. It's important to recognize that each individual's perspective, opinion, and experience is valid. Just because one model had a positive interaction with a certain photographer doesn't negate another model's negative experience. There's no justification for rudeness, harsh judgment, or belittlement towards those who choose to collaborate with individuals others have had issues with. Ultimately, it's not our place to dictate or criticize someone else's choices. While it's acceptable to offer support and understanding, and even distance oneself if necessary, it's crucial to refrain from attacking or interrogating others. When disagreements arise over why a model chooses to work with a photographer who may be on a blacklist, it's not our responsibility to intervene. The model has been informed and is capable of making decisions autonomously. Let's strive to foster a community of respect, empathy, and autonomy, where individuals can make their own choices without fear of undue scrutiny or condemnation.

"Often when I leave my apartment, my #accessibility needs become an instant obstacle. I plan around — and stress about — things like my ability to open a door while navigating a #scooter through it, my ability to eat at a restaurant, and my ability to get into and move around buildings. "I know that I will inevitably be excluded from things that other people have easy access to and my life will be made more inconvenient and difficult because of it. I once spent an hour trapped in a Washington, DC metro station because the elevator was turned off – not broken, just off. I had a week-long work retreat where I couldn’t eat any of the provided food and had to order and pay for my own delivery even though I was assured they would be able to accommodate me. I have missed out on concerts, pride parades, family weddings, funerals, and more because the event plans simply failed to include people like me. "So when I recently made plans to visit queer couple friends and they actually provided me with a range of accessibility information without prompting I felt seen, validated, and valued as a whole person. I want to live in a world where #disabled people get to experience that feeling often at all sorts of events ranging from small social gatherings to large public events. That will not happen unless abled people make the effort to learn, proactively plan, and communicate about accessibility. "This list of considerations is just a starting point, a resource to remind us to listen, learn, and try. It’s not about perfection — it’s about showing up with open hearts and open minds." 1. Ask about language and needs 2. Ensure physical access 3. Confirm accessible parking and transit 4. Welcome service animals 5. Accommodate diverse communication preferences 6. Be COVID conscious 7. Provide a variety of seating 8. Allow for rest and breaks 9. Pay attention to temperature control 10. Supply food options 11. Plan inclusive activities 12. Be prepared for an emergency 13. Train people in anti-ableism 14. Consider sensory needs 15.
