Alongside 35 UK institutions, we have signed a pledge to lead the way in environmental sustainability in research and innovation. The Concordat for the Environmental Sustainability of Research and Innovation Practice represents a shared ambition for the UK to deliver cutting-edge research but in a more environmentally responsible and sustainable way. The six priority areas are; 1️⃣ Leadership and system change 2️⃣ Sustainable infrastructure 3️⃣ Sustainable procurement 4️⃣ Emissions from business and academic travel 5️⃣ Collaborations and partnerships 6️⃣ Environmental impact and reporting data The overarching goal is to achieve sector-wide change by 2050. Green Procurement 🌿 - that's our "very abstract" topic for this month's meet-up discussion. It means many things precisely when you put an array of individuals from different players within the #builtenvironment sector, from consultants Effendi Asngari Kai Ting Foo Zac Tam Zhi Cong (彭志聪) Luke Beh , to real estate developer Yan Ling Baey, to corporate real estate (myself) , to hospitality REIT Chen Yan Goh and also in-house corporate sus Lena Toh. I enjoyed "moderating" this panel as the topic evolved from sustainable and responsible procurement to GreenMark to EPDs and SGLS/SGBP to define "green" in procurement and different approaches to weighing sustainability criteria. ️🎯🎯Eco-industrial parks bring many benefits to investors ▶️ The concept of sustainable industrial parks (IPs) and eco-IPs has been attracting attention in Vietnam, in line with the environmental pollution reduction goals that Vietnam committed to when joining the UNEP Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CACC) in 2017. In fact, a number of initiatives have been implemented to establish and promote sustainable operations in IPs, as well as to improve the legal framework for investment in these facilities. ▶️ Sustainable industrial parks/eco-industrial parks are designed to minimize environmental impacts, promote resource efficiency, and implement sustainable practices among businesses operating within the industrial park.
