While the city has a robust network of services and dedicated government, public health, and medical professionals, the treatment system is complex, fragmented, and perceived to be inaccessible to many people seeking care. If you watch just one thing today, make it this... 💗 🏥 Every week in the UK & Ireland 70 people suffer an aortic dissection. Sadly, half die. An aortic dissection occurs when there is a partial tear in the aortic wall. It is a time critical medical emergency that (when diagnosed and treated on time) has a better than 80% survival rate. Sadly 33% of those suffering from an aortic dissection are misdiagnosed, including my mum. An aortic dissection can happen at any age, and without any apparent warning. 2000 lives are lost in the UK every year, and it's estimated that 10 people die a week due to misdiagnosis.
