What an absolute pleasure spending time yesterday, moderating a panel at Reed Gift Fair at ICC Sydney. Our topic was How To Embed Sustainability into Your Business and Brand, and the incredible panel consisted of: *Sasha Titchkosky, Co-Founder and CEO, Koskela *Jane Cox, Managing Director, Porter Green *Cintia Rodrigues, Owner, Tea Trees Eco Ware *Esther Bailey, Heads of Systems Transformations, APCO My job was made so much easier by having 4 inspirational women to interview, who all passionately and actively support sustainable practices in their businesses. We were thrilled to share so much valuable content with the audience. The key take outs were: *Start with something small and manageable that you can do consistently in your business. You don't need to single-handedly change the world, but if everyone makes some small changes we will undoubtably shift the dial. *It doesn't have to be expensive to introduce sustainability into your business. Assess everything from where you bank, have your super, or the suppliers you use and their own practices, to see how you can action change. *Communicate your priorities and pillars to your customers as many are looking to work with sustainable brands. In many instances despite costs increases to implement sustainable practices, customers were happy to pay more as they valued this pillar - but they have to know the value you are offering so make sure you articulate it clearly! #sustainablebusiness #timeforchange #sustainbility

The copywriter for distinctive consumer brands (or those that want to be) | Freelance copywriter & content writer
Can David still beat Goliath? I spent most of my corporate life working on brand and product development with “Goliaths” in beauty. I took the conscious decision to step outside of that when I went solo, focusing on the power of words to tell stories for much smaller businesses. In the last five years, I’ve only been tempted back into brand creation and product development on less than a handful of occasions. Working with Jonathan and Antonia and the team at Nursem is one of them. It has everything I love in smaller brands: incredible people, great heart, amazing products that work, and a story worth telling. Thousands of nurses around the UK and beyond have received Nursem Promise packs from every purchase. It was also a chance to work with Paul Tomlinson again after many years working together on No 7. We all worked on Ultra Caring Body Balm, which India Knight described as “a dream on super-dry skin”. Not going to disagree with her. Still got that little rush of excitement of seeing something I’d been involved with in the press and on the shelf. So now this little David of a product needs some help. It’s nominated, along with the incredible hand cream, in the Style Beauty Awards. It’s up against brands such as Nivea, Dove, and Dermalogica. Definitely Goliaths in comparison. All great products, but I challenge you to find one with more heart behind it. If you didn’t catch Jonny and Antonia on Holly Tucker MBE Conversations of Inspiration recently, then listen to that and you’ll hear what I mean. Or go back and watch them on Dragon’s Den. I know they’d love you to try the product yourself. But if you happen to be on the Style Awards voting for something else and not sure what to vote for in the Body or Hand section, perhaps you’d consider giving them your vote. And let’s see if David can still triumph. Link in comments in case you’re itching to get voting now. #brandstorytelling #challengerbrands #stylebeautyawards24

Reflecting on our dynamic insights session… We brought brands and industry colleagues together at Outernet London to explore the risks of underestimating the power of live experiences in maintaining a brand’s cultural relevance. Our Managing Director, Louisa O'Connor was joined by Natalie Duvall and Clara Biu in a dynamic panel discussion, hosted by our Client Services Director, Natasha Broady where they shared key learnings and tips on how to maximise ROI in a challenging brand landscape. Insights revealed that cultural relevance is driven by live experiences that: ➡️ Fuel authenticity to build TRUST - 70% of consumers say they would spend more with authentic brands ➡️ Cultivate community to build CONNECTION ➡️ Stimulate emotion to build MEMORIES - 80% of UK and US consumers find that physical experiences create more lasting memories compared to physical products Most importantly, culturally relevant brands are 2.6 times more likely to experience profit growth. Therefore, by not investing in live experiences, brands risk jeopardizing their success and legacy. Thank you once again to our amazing partners Outernet London, Ginger Jar Food, Insert Productions and Amarante for helping bring our creative vision to life. Long live the experience era! #brandexperience #culture #insights #seenpresents

You can't 'force' community. It was amazing to sit down with Colette Laxton of The INKEY List | B Corp during the CEW UK Beauty Tech Summit to talk about everything 'brand community'. Colette and The Inkey List team have done some incredible community-building work. But she's right when she says that brands can't simply decide to become 'community-led'. It has to be natural. It has to be an organic process at the beginning. And that starts when your customers evolve from simply buying your products to having a genuine love for your brand and the things you stand for. Once those people come together, that's a brand community - and that's when the magic starts to happen. Do you agree that community needs to happen naturally and what are your experiences? Let me know in the comments... #brandcommunity #communitybuilding #ecom #dtc #inkeylist
