After a period of 12.5 years, he will retire early on 1 February 2024 at the age of 66. Vergroesen: "I have had a fantastic time at IRO. I am still fit and now that we are in the process of defining a new strategy, I think it would be good if a new person with fresh eyes is involved in the preparation as early as possible and can give direction to the implementation of that strategy." More information on this new strategy, to better position IRO and its members, will follow at a later date.

New Post: Turbines transport & installation for Vesterhav Nord & Syd   - https://lnkd.in/ebJWMh-W Wind Energy - Vesterhav Denmark For the offshore wind farm Vesterhav Nord & Syd in Denmark, Jan De Nul Group transported and installed a total of 41 wind turbines of 8.4 MW each on behalf of Vattenfall Denmark. All together, these turbines will produce enough green electricity for the annual needs of approximately 350,000 Danish households. For this installation project, Jan De Nul’s jack-up installation vessel Vole au vent was mobilised. The contract between Jan De Nul and Vattenfall also included the design, engineering, manufacturing, procurement and delivery of the sea-fastening of turbine components. The blade rack was delivered by Siemens. In addition, Jan De Nul took care of the studies related to transport engineering and jacking analyses of the Vole au vent. The jack-up vessel Vole au vent left Esbjerg Harbor for the first time on 7 July 2023 to start the transport and installation of the 41 Siemens Gamesa wind turbines. Five days later, on 12 July, the first turbine was erected. On 18 October 2023, the vessel installed the last turbine, thus completing her project scope. In February this year, DEME Offshore kicked-off the foundation installation works at the Vesterhav Nord and Vesterhav Syd offshore wind farm.

New Post: Novel design for Floating Offshore Wind approved by ABS - https://lnkd.in/eRnVCn5j Wind Energy - Floating Wind ABS issued an approval in principle (AIP) to ECO TLP for its floating offshore wind turbine support structure. The unique design from ECO TLP utilizes slip-formed cylindrical concrete hulls and gravity anchors, which, when combined with a tension-leg mooring system, has a smaller footprint than traditional structures using steel column-stabilized hulls. “Offshore floating wind will play a key role in the global energy transition by expanding the reach of renewable generating capacity to waters that are too deep for fixed-bottom wind projects. ABS is proud to support innovative companies like ECO TLP Inc. who are designing structures that address and solve challenges related to offshore wind’s manufacture, installation and cost,” said Miguel Hernandez, ABS Senior Vice President, Global Offshore. “ECO TLP simplifies the 250-meter to 2,000-meter floating wind installation process. Looking at both capital and operational expenses, we are an extremely low-cost solution, incorporating available, non-proprietary components and standard local labor support across the globe,” said Nicole Johnson Murphy, CEO, ECO TLP. The project is now with ABS for the next phase, Front End Engineering Design (FEED).

New Post: Breidablikk coming on stream ahead of schedule - https://lnkd.in/eq2VwGiU Fossil Energy - Breidablikk On Stream Production from the Breidablikk field in the North Sea started on 20 October, four months ahead of schedule and within budget. The Breidablikk field in the North Sea and the Grane platform. Tied back to the Grane platform, the subsea field holds almost 200 million barrels of recoverable oil. The partners are Equinor (operator), Petoro, Vår Energi and ConocoPhillips. "Breidablikk will come on stream four months ahead of schedule, within budget, and with higher initial production than expected. The project is highly profitable, provides important volumes to the market, and will create great value for Norwegian society and the owners. Nearly five million working hours have gone into the project. I am proud of the project delivery, and would like to thank everyone involved," says Geir Tungesvik, Equinor’s executive vice president for Projects, Drilling & Procurement. When the plan for development and operation (PDO) was submitted in September 2020, production from Breidablikk was scheduled to start in the first half of 2024, with predrilling and completion of five wells. Now, eight wells have already been drilled, and the drilling of additional wells will continue on the field until the end of 2025. Breidablikk is being developed with 22 subsea wells drilled from four templates. Pipelines and cables have been installed between the subsea facility and the Grane platform, which has been modified to receive the well stream. The project has had major ripple effects in Norway. More than 90 percent of the contract value has gone to suppliers with a Norwegian billing address. The main suppliers are Odfjell Drilling in Bergen, Aker Solutions, with large deliveries from Egersund, Wood Group in Sandefjord, and TechnipFMC, from their spoolbase in Orkanger. The oil from Breidablikk is processed on Grane and sent ashore by pipeline to the Sture terminal in Øygarden. Oil will account for about 15 percent of exports from Sture in the years to come. The new field will be operated together with the Grane field by the Equinor organisation at Sandsli in Bergen.

New Post: Launch China’s first dedicated Subsea Cable Shuttle barge (VIDEO) - https://lnkd.in/eJJmNBmj Wind Energy - Chinese Subsea Cable Barge Orient Cable announced the launch of its Long-Range Heavy Subsea Cable Shuttle barge Dongfang Haigong 07 (DFHG 07). The barge is specially designed to transport various types of subsea cables, including those for offshore wind and interconnection projects. This cable barge features two 9000t turntables on deck, capable of holding up to 18000t of cable. It measures 42 metres in width, 128 metres in length and has a global operation range.

New Post: Final wind turbine for Hollandse Kust Noord OWF - https://lnkd.in/etijdyTS Wind Energy - Last Turbine HKN Wind park developer CrossWind, contractor Van Oord and wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy are hence celebrating the successful installation of the final wind turbine at Hollandse Kust Noord. Yesterday evening the 69th wind turbine has been installed at what will be one of the Netherlands' most innovative offshore wind parks. Innovations comprise floating offshore solar and a hydrogen plant. Van Oord started installing the foundations of the offshore wind park in October 2022. With the final wind turbine installed within a year, CrossWind’s contractor is on track to make Hollandse Kust Noord one of the fastest installed wind parks of its kind.

New Post: Combination process of Cadeler and Eneti on track - https://lnkd.in/eiH4vD7Z General - Business Combination Yesterday, the F-4 registration statement was publicly filed with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in respect of the proposed business combination of Cadeler and Eneti. The completion of the proposed transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions, including the approval of Eneti’s shareholders, the combination is expected to close within Q4 2023. Mikkel Gleerup, CEO of Cadeler said: “We are very pleased to announce that we are proceeding according to plan with expected completion in Q4. This is a strategic combination that will unlock unrivalled value due to increased cross-utilization of resources and improved flexibility, capacity, and agility. The combination will provide customers with the largest and most diverse fleet of jack up vessels in the industry, operated by highly skilled teams with unique expertise and track records”. Emanuele Lauro, CEO of Eneti said: ”The combination will offer our customers a new degree of flexibility and supply-certainty from a contractor with vast operating experience in the industry and access to a diverse fleet of capable assets, operated by a highly skilled team. The combination will enable the combined company to operate more efficiently, and target still larger and more complex projects as requested by customers”. The combined group will be named Cadeler and will be headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, with Mikkel Gleerup continuing as CEO and Peter Brogaard Hansen continuing as CFO. Post combination, Cadeler and Eneti shareholders will own approximately 60% and 40% of the combined company, respectively, using the share counts as of 16 June 2023 and assuming all outstanding Eneti shares are exchanged for Cadeler shares in an exchange ratio of 3.409 Cadeler shares for every Eneti share.

New Post: DEME awarded new contract for Greater Changhua OWF - https://lnkd.in/eYawRwPH Wind Energy - Seabed Levelling and cour Protection Ørsted has contracted CDWE, the joint venture between DEME and Taiwanese shipbuilder CSBC, to carry out seabed levelling and scour protection for the Greater Changhua 2b and 4 offshore wind farms offshore Taiwan. The scope of work incorporates seabed levelling and scour protection for both the offshore substation and the 66 wind turbine generator locations. Deploying vessels from DEME’s hopper dredger and fallpipe fleet, work is set to begin in the first quarter of 2025. The 920 MW Greater Changhua 2b and 4 wind farms will be located 35-60 km off the coast of Changhua County in Taiwan. DEME and its affiliates have already won significant contracts in the thriving Taiwanese offshore wind market. In August, ‘Green Jade’, the first Taiwan-built offshore wind installation vessel, which is operated by CDWE, kicked off the installation campaign for the jacket foundations of the 298 MW Zhong Neng offshore wind farm. DEME has also secured contracts representing 1 GW for the Hai Long wind farm in Taiwan, as well as turbine installation contracts for the Changfang and Xidao, and Zhong Neng offshore wind farms.
