As Walmart goes, so goes the nation? The big-box retailer beat estimates last quarter, it reported Thursday, with revenue up nearly 5% and e-commerce sales surging 22% in the U.S, even as net income dropped. As the largest retailer in the country, Walmart is considered something of a bellwether for Americans' spending habits; CFO John David Rainey said the latest results suggest customers "remain choiceful, discerning, value-seeking... but importantly, we don’t see any additional fraying of consumer health." The chain also raised its sales outlook for the year. One especially hopeful indicator: Walmart's non-grocery sales were positive for the first time in 11 quarters. The results come as annual inflation hits a three-year low, though prices remain much higher than they were pre-pandemic.
Dear associates, you continue to deliver results and build momentum. Congratulations on another strong quarter! As a team, we’re setting the stage for our future by creating a stronger business that serves our customers and members in new ways. In the second half of the year, let’s stay focused on our purpose and the way we bring it to life by living our values and serving others. It’s an exciting time for our company due to your good work. Way to go!

Today marks my one year anniversary at Placer.ai. 365 days in the blink of an eye! Reflecting on the past year fills me with gratitude not only for what we've accomplished but for the incredible milestones ahead. I "found" this industry over ten years ago with a little bit of luck and almost by mistake. At the time, I was buying media for a brand and was perplexed by a problem: our mobile advertising didn't convert. But why? I set out on a path to find a company that could help solve that problem, and it unlocked a series of events that has turned location analytics into my career path. Since then, I've had the honor of working with some of the world's largest brands and organizations to uncover use cases far beyond media. It has been 10 years full of learning, asking questions, and creatively solving for big, real world problems in retail, commercial real estate, marketing, strategy, tourism, financial services, and more. A decade in, I find myself more excited than ever. I am proud to work for the market leader in location analytics and look forward to many years of growth and success to come. I have to give a big thanks to the people at Placer who've made this company an empowering place to work and who have believed in me along the way. I come to work each day inspired, surrounded by a team that is relentless in its pursuit of greatness. And we have a lot of fun! #locationanalytics #placerai #mobiledata #partnerships

I usually wouldn't repost something like this, but... I also can't help but talk about it. So, here we are. In the little time I had on calls with Iggy Domagalski, a couple of years ago now, he immediately showed me how much he cared about people at Wajax. It wasn't too long before he started as a CEO and, coming from a place of generosity, booked a call with my team to learn how he could support individuals beyond traditional corporate training. From his own experience, he genuinely wanted people to have access to the best tools out there for their personal development. It goes without saying that because of it, he immediately earned my respect and admiration. That's why when I came across this article, I was quite happy. But not surprised at all. CEOs are supposed to be the visionaries, the innovators. And that's all right. But we're in the midst of a character revolution — as Adam Grant mentioned in his new book about hidden potential. What if future innovation is about going back to the core: people. I'll leave you with two quotes from the article. The first one, it's the main reason why I chose to support workplaces through Mindvalley. “𝘚𝘰 𝘸𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘧𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘥, 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘧𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴. 𝘖𝘳 𝘪𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘣𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘧𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘧𝘶𝘭, 𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘳𝘺, 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘧𝘶𝘭, 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘹𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴.” This. Countless times, I've shared the same message with business owners and HR leaders. Feel free to message me if this is something that lights you up too. The second quote is for you to think about ROI x ROP. “𝘔𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘤𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘳-𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘨,” 𝘋𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘬𝘪 𝘴𝘢𝘺𝘴, “𝘴𝘰 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘵. 𝘞𝘦’𝘷𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘷𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘶𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥 𝘢 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦-𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘺.” There is always an economic situation that will make businesses prioritize ROI but let's not forget ROP (Return on People). I hope you realize, like Wajax did, that their people are the one thing they can't overlook. Easier said than done? Yes, that's why... If you came looking for action items… Their playbook to create a people-first culture includes: 1. Define core values and align strategy with them 2. Invest in employee development 3. Facilitate strong relationships and enhance communication There is more so you better check the link for the full story (https://lnkd.in/gVj5mvBT) I hope and work to see more stories like this. PS: Full disclosure, we’re not partnering at the moment. There is no intention to take credit for any of the successes mentioned in the article; this is purely a genuine appreciation for the good work being done.
Thank you to Dale Buss at ChiefExecutive.Net for writing this great article about Wajax and our people-first culture. https://lnkd.in/gVj5mvBT

Once upon a time in the bustling city of Progresso, there was a company known for its innovative spirit and market leadership. The employees worked diligently, and among them was Elena, a dedicated operations manager whose strategies had saved the company millions. Despite her achievements, Elena’s efforts went unrecognized. Promotions and accolades seemed to pass her by, always landing in the hands of her colleague, Mark, who was adept at taking credit for the work of others. Elena’s team felt the sting of injustice, as their hard work was overshadowed by Mark’s self-promotion. One day, the CEO announced a new project that would be the most challenging yet. Elena and her team poured their hearts into the work, achieving remarkable results. However, during the annual gala, Mark once again stepped into the spotlight, claiming their success as his own. The team was disheartened, and morale plummeted. Elena, seeing the unfairness, decided to take a stand. She gathered evidence of her team’s contributions and requested a private meeting with the CEO. In the meeting, Elena presented her case with grace and conviction. The CEO listened intently, surprised and concerned about the oversight. Moved by Elena’s passion and the clear evidence of her team’s achievements, the CEO took immediate action. Mark’s deceit was exposed, and he was reprimanded. Elena and her team were publicly acknowledged for their outstanding work, receiving the recognition and rewards they truly deserved. The company implemented a new system to ensure fair recognition of achievements, fostering a culture of transparency and justice. Elena’s courage not only brought fairness to her team but also inspired a wave of positive change throughout the company. Progresso thrived like never before, all thanks to the unassuming heroism of an operations manager who believed in fairness for all. And so, the story of Elena and her team became a legend within the company, a reminder that recognition should always be fair and based on true merit. This story is a work of fiction, but it highlights the importance of recognizing and rewarding employees fairly for their contributions. It serves as a reminder that every member of a team plays a vital role in the success of an organization.
