After years in recruitment, I've identified the key qualities that make for the best client relationships. When these are present, the hiring process flows seamlessly, and both sides win. Here’s what I look for: Clear communication – clients who are upfront and clear in their needs make the process far more efficient. Timely feedback – quick, detailed responses keep top candidates engaged and the process moving. Trust in expertise – great clients trust me to do what I do best—without micromanaging. Realistic expectations – understanding the market and setting fair expectations on salary and timelines is key. Mutual respect – professionalism and respect for time and effort go both ways. Fair compensation – clients who value our service understand that competitive fees reflect the quality of our work. Collaboration – the best results come from working together, with clients actively participating. Focus on retention – clients who care about onboarding and long-term success help ensure that candidates thrive. Openness to diversity – embracing a wide range of talent makes for stronger teams and better hires. Positive brand reputation – when clients are known for their good culture and reputation, candidates are more excited to join. My “A” list clients are highly valued by us and when they call, it’s a call we really look forward to. We’ve built lasting partnerships that have grown stronger with time. We've celebrated the wins and stood together through the tough times. Partnerships are rooted in trust, transparency and walking the process together.
