There was everything from the weird to inspired at this year's SXSW. I was bit freaked out sitting at WEHEAD's table with a talking head in front of me. If WEHEAD ultimately targets millions of consumers, they'll have to spend big $'s to get the word out. However, it seems like their initial target is B2B. And for B2B, the needed investment is often more about time than money. That is, having conversations around the story behind WEHEAD, and championing it to others is what's critical, not the monetary investment. The more time one spends using a new name in the right context with the right story wrapped around it, the more it will come alive and create buy-in. And the story is critical. In our experience, there is no shortcut. This investment has to be made to achieve buy-in across all constituencies. In naming, familiarity (and use) doesn't breed contempt but rather it breeds acceptance and ultimately, enthusiasm and excitement. So we wish WEHEAD and many others we talked to at SXSW much success. With a compelling story wrapped around their new names and by spending the time telling their stories, I believe many can achieve the acceptance and growth they are chasing. #sxsw2024 #brandnaming #brandnarrative #brandstory
