The great thing about this report is that it puts the themes in one place, something missing from the field. Notably, sustained implementation needs intentional funding to start but often needs a mindful handoff to more sustainable funding to keep programs going.
I witnessed Robin make a very important push during a Police Executive Research Forum meeting a couple years ago that I’m going to amplify here too - agencies and funders need to include evaluation if they want to 1) know if their effort is doing what they expected and 2) share with their field so we can learn from each other. For a topic as important as behavioral health, we need to know we’re getting it right and working together to get there.
Complex challenges require innovative approaches. CJI’s landscape analysis creates a comprehensive picture of both barriers to and opportunities for successful behavioral health crisis response across the country. Read our full report here: https://lnkd.in/eP9X4UtS

2moMy feedback: expand NYS’s inpatient commitment law to include “ persistently or acutely disabled“, “at high risk for deterioration without treatment” and “unwilling or unable to accept treatment due to anosognosia”. This would enable the most vulnerable among us, those too sick to know they need care, to get life saving treatment. #rightcarerightnow #treatmentnottime
