Opting for a small company in your internship can be immensely beneficial. Here's why: Hands-On Experience: Small companies often provide more hands-on opportunities. You're likely to wear multiple hats, gaining a broader skill set. Visibility and Impact: Your contributions in a small company are more visible, allowing you to make a tangible impact and be recognized for your efforts. Learning Agility: Smaller teams mean a closer-knit environment where learning happens rapidly. You're exposed to various aspects of the business, fostering adaptability. Mentorship Opportunities: In smaller settings, you may have direct access to senior professionals, facilitating mentorship that can greatly accelerate your learning curve. Entrepreneurial Exposure: Small companies often embody an entrepreneurial spirit. You might get a firsthand look at how decisions are made, strategies formed, and challenges overcome. Remember, the right fit depends on your career goals and learning preferences. In a smaller setup, your impact can be profound, and the skills acquired can set a strong foundation for your professional journey. 🚀 #InternshipInsights #CareerGrowth

👋 Say goodbye to "Get me a coffee." ☕ 😊 Say hello to "Design a few templates," "Sit in on this meeting to observe," and "Let's schedule a mentorship session this week." Mentoring is one of the Creative Circle Collective's many pillars. Which is why interns play such a vital role for our organization. When considering interns, perfection isn't required; only curiosity and a willingness to learn. "Internships are about learning. I want to bring on someone I can trust with work, even if their design style isn’t perfect, as long as they’re eager to learn." 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐒𝐌𝐄𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬 Having worked in three startups and one SME across different continents, I can totally relate to the challenges highlighted in this report! Oftentimes, there’s a clear need for interns, but the complexity of reaching out to universities, especially with limited time and resources, can make the process daunting. SMEs offer unique benefits for internships by giving students real-world experience and adaptability, but the bureaucratic barriers and resource constraints remain tough obstacles. Our report, "𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱𝘴, 𝘗𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦: 𝘌𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘚𝘔𝘌 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘊𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯", is based on insights from hundreds of global industry leaders and sheds light on the gap between educators' and employers' perspectives on graduate readiness. It’s encouraging to see VI leading meaningful work to address these challenges. If you’re keen to learn more, check out the report—it's packed with valuable insights on improving SME-university collaboration. During graduation, most of us are always willing to get into one or the other internship. Right? Therefore, I recently joined an internship (won't mention the name of that start up) and before my telephonic interview, they were telling me about their organization and the perks of being its intern (ngl the only perk was a certificate of completion and an LOR for good performance) I was happy till here! However, the next thing that I was told, was as follows: ● It's a 2 month internship and you'll have to work even on weekends that is no offs. ● it is unpaid. ● furthermore after spending 10hrs in college and commutation, I'll have to devote 3-4hrs each day. So, even after having the burden of approaching sem 2 exams & loads of society work, I said YES to all this just because it's my time of doing hard work & learning instead of earning. But the only problem which I am trying to showcase here is that when a startup becomes a unicorn and if not a unicorn, just a big company, then often the hard work of us interns is highly ignored who did unimaginable amount of hard work for the organization and took it to that particular level. Why so? Don't know. Lemme know what's your take on this?✨️🙌 #learninganddevelopment #learningandgrowing #journeyofdiscovery #linkedincommunity #LinkedIn #opportunities

Well, it has been two months since launching our new membership service for social impact organizations called the INTERNSHIP INSIDER™ Membership 🙌 We help our Internship Insiders set up and run right-fit internship programs in a time and cost-effective way 💰 We wanted to reflect and share a little about Visions Internships' journey to get here, in hopes it will encourage you to keep going, press forward, and stay nimble on the path to fulfilling your dreams. Our idea for a virtual Do-It-With-You membership model emerged after 2+ years running a mostly Do-It-For-You program where we would find, train, manage, and mentor interns to get projects done for real clients-- but later realized our clients were left without their own internship infrastructure, and we were left unable to scale beyond serving a small group of organizations and interns. Sooo... as social entrepreneurs do, our founder Amy Mosher Berry went back to the drawing board to design a more sustainable solution that would serve many more organizations and young people and, by extension, create a brighter world for us all! We will share more about our amazing founding members in the weeks to come. In the meantime, we'd love to hear what you're working on and any insights you've had along the way. Humbled & Grateful~ Visions Internships . . . . #InternshipInsider #MembershipProgram #SocialImpact #InternshipPrograms #SocialEntrepreneurship #OrganizationalDevelopment #ProfessionalDevelopment #ImpactfulInternships #EntrepreneurialJourney #CommunityBuilding

Being a intern at my first internship in a startup, I realized that real growth doesn’t happen by simply following the task list you're assigned. It’s when I started stepping out of my comfort zone: - speaking up in meetings - taking on projects outside my expertise - and embracing the uncertainty of fast-paced challenges—that I truly began to grow. The most rewarding lessons came from moments where I took initiative, stumbled, learned, and tried again. It’s not just about doing the work, it’s about owning it and pushing yourself to think and act like a core part of the team. #linkedin #growth #intern

Subject: Unlocking Opportunities: Startups and Internships 🚀 As someone passionate about fostering talent and innovation, I wanted to share my thoughts on why startups should actively promote internships. 🌟 Real-World Exposure: While formal education imparts essential skills, internships provide a glimpse into the actual work environment. Interns learn industry-specific lingo, gain insights from experts, and understand the day-to-day challenges faced by professionals. It’s like a backstage pass to the business world! 🌐 Skill Development: Internships allow young minds to apply classroom knowledge in practical scenarios. Whether it’s coding, marketing, or finance, interns get hands-on experience. Plus, they learn to adapt, problem-solve, and collaborate effectively. 💡 Networking Opportunities: Startups thrive on connections. Interns build relationships with mentors, colleagues, and industry leaders. These connections often lead to future job opportunities or entrepreneurial ventures. 🤝 Balancing Experience and Potential: Internships strike a balance between theoretical learning and real-world skills. By working on projects, interns convert their potential into tangible results. This early exposure prepares them for long-term success. 📈 #YouthEmpowerment #StartupCulture #SkillDevelopment#HellloUniglobe

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐈 𝐃𝐢𝐝𝐧’𝐭 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦 When I think about the most valuable lessons I’ve learned, they didn’t come from textbooks or lectures; they came from 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐞. My first internship was a game changer. Suddenly, the theories I had studied were staring me in the face in the form of real tasks and deadlines. I made mistakes, asked questions I didn’t even know I had, and slowly began connecting the dots between 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐤𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝. Then came the 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 - the unsung heroes of my journey. These weren’t just formal mentors but also 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐬, 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬 who showed me the ropes, gave feedback, and helped me navigate challenges I didn’t know I’d face. Their advice was like a 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐜𝐮𝐭, helping me avoid pitfalls and grow faster than I ever could on my own. This experience echoes the 70:20:10 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒎𝒐𝒅𝒆𝒍: ✔️ 70% of learning happens through 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 (internships, real-world challenges). ✔️ 20% comes from 𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒄𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏, i.e., learning through others' experiences. ✔️ 10% is what we get from𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒍 𝒆𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏, and that’s okay - it forms the foundation for learning. That’s why I believe so strongly in internships and mentoring. They push us out of our comfort zones, help us build confidence, and connect us with people who shape our careers in ways we can’t always predict. If I could give one piece of advice to someone starting out, it would be this: 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐛𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐞 𝐚𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐬𝐤 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞. The right experience and the right mentor can make all the difference. Wishing you a happy new week filled with learning, growth, and new opportunities! #Mentorship #Internships #70_20_10 #GrowthMindset #thedataefficiencyhub

🌟 Time Management and the Power of Interns 🌟 As I navigate the exciting journey of starting a new business while managing my current one, volunteering, and spending quality time with my family, I've discovered a game-changer: interns! Having interns on board has been invaluable in helping me balance these commitments. They bring fresh ideas, energy, and a willingness to learn, allowing me to delegate tasks effectively. This not only enhances productivity but also frees up my time to focus on strategic decisions and nurturing my family relationships. If you're juggling multiple responsibilities, consider how interns could support your goals and empower your growth. Assistant Manager , HRBP Wipro Digital Cloud | Connected B School , Law graduates and CA hires from Campus to Corporates
As the internships begin across companies - you will see a lot of posts sharing happiness and excitement.. The first 2-3 days during induction are all happy moments but reality strikes and strikes hard once we get busy with our internship projects!! Excitement turns into anxiety , nervousness and at times cluelessness. If it happens to you that you feel overwhelemed in the first 5-7 days of your internship tell yourself its normal and happens to most. How you come out of it will be important. Here are some of the tips that helped me make most of my internships which may resonate with few 1) Network and connect with people in your team. Understanding the business is the first step in ensuring you deliver a good project 2) Understand how the team is structured , the challenges that plague the team regarding which the project is assigned to you 3) Think about how you want to go about it and share your views with your mentor and buddy. Seek their opinion and clarity on what should be your focus area and why 4) Network with folks across the company - understand your stakeholders and reach out to them... Most people may not reply at once - ping them again/call them and talk to them giving the entire scenario what you are working on.. 5) Network with folks in your college and across - talk to them , see if anyone else has similar project. Always remember a mind share with your batch mates is always helpful to make you think in dimensions you might have missed 6) Always keep your mentor in confidence what you are doing - how it will help , your thought process etc 7) Keep a folder where you store all the pdf/links that you go through , use for your research. It will help to save time towards the end when you have to show links that you used for presentation 8) Be very thorough with secondary research and use genuine sites / links. Do not quote sites/links which seem fishy. 9) The project should be made simple - recommendation should be very impactful even if they aren't the most fancy ones. Remember simple implementable recommendation can be quite impactful too 10) Know your final presentation. Use storyboarding technique while presenting. Remember as much as deck you can by giving a good practice of flow during final presentation and wear a smile 11) Most Importantly - Enjoy this phase of SIP and don't get worried about it... Please add on if you think anything is missed here #internship #mba #corporatejourney #inductions #learnings #tips #placements #selfexperience
