What we have seen at other AMs is these league tables are really important. Not just for ego and benchmarking. But more importantly the further up the table you are, the easier it is to attract new investors. So a even few bps of additional return can make a disproportionate difference. (Part of the reason why large buy side firms enter into stock lending for the additional fee income- relative to their competitors). This is how Treasury can add real value, by managing Margin and Financing and reinvesting the savings. This is the easiest way to improve the Fund sharpe ratio and returns (either at the RFR or the the firms ROI depending upon appetite). Analysing the consumption of Margin and or Financing Costs and the available options is really a 'no lose' investment and it can improve resilience by identifying where the potential 'slack' is in the Fund. So it should inform the type and size of buffers the Fund runs. If Funds don't already do this, they may be at risk of losing places on these league tables. A stormy August proved to be just an usual month for multistrategy hedge funds. A few pods got cut, a few traders stopped out and a majority of them produced steady returns. Investors should love a boring world! Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/d-RhXUCZ Note: your fund may have done much better (or worse). This table is not comprehensive and only includes large mutlistrategy and multi manager hedge funds for which I have fresh data.

#QMIT HFIB EMN index now up +24.46% ytd (anti-fragile; long dispersion; long vol) with ~28% mean 5.7y, while it seems none of the major multi-strats [Citadel W; P72; Exodus Pt; Millenium; Baly] are into the double digits yet YTD not to mention the mediocre ann returns of late (except maybe Citadel). Are the brand name behemoths just too fat & happy or perhaps not passing along much of the returns pie to investors given the egregious fees? Better to pay a fraction of the fees for a potentially much better outcome? Coming to a Delta One desk near you (via TRS/ notes).
