Head of Safety@Fraunhofer IESE | Safe innovative connected autonomous systems | Model-Based Systems & Safety Engineering | R&D
Dear automated driving enthusiasts, recently I had the pleasure of giving an interview to Springer Professional about my view on the state of automated driving safety assurance, answering the following questions: - Is there a big discrepancy between the reality and the marketing surrounding automated driving? - Is autonomous driving at level 5 even possible anywhere? - Which use cases should car manufacturers focus on when developing automated vehicles? - Why should we pause for a moment with regard to the further development of automated vehicles? - Are we stuck at level 2+? To what extent can artificial intelligence continue to power autonomous driving? - Will automated driving make road traffic safer or less safe? Overall, I believe the automated driving safety problem should be differentiated in a much more nuanced way, respecting the vast differences in what is required to achieve safety in different use cases with different levels of operational domain complexity, system structure dynamics, and value creation ecosystems. The full interview is available at: https://lnkd.in/e6jcurHv My team at Fraunhofer IESE is happy to support you and your team with our safety, security and AI assurance methods, tools, and expertise. Let's collaborate to transfer our know-how to safely bring your automated driving function to market, also in commercial application domains like intralogistics, agriculture, or cobots/AMRs. #autonomousdriving #safety #industry40 Springer Professional

This requires new computers. The article describes the trend towards software-defined mobility and centralized vehicle and E/E architecture. In the future, a few central vehicle computers are expected to combine several functions. Bosch positioned itself as an innovation leader and demonstrated the fusion of infotainment and driver assistance functions at 𝐂𝐄𝐒® 2024 𝐢𝐧 𝐋𝐚𝐬 𝐕𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐬, 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 2024. 'What role can and will intelligent transport infrastructure play in the future, especially in connection with autonomous mobility?' The intelligence of a system of systems - as in vehicles driving in traffic with other vehicles - should not reside onboard. Instead, the consequent leverage of the autonomy of software defined vehicle will see an active guidance by the next generation traffic control of smart cities to - manage the commuter flow - manage last mile deliveries - optimize parking - provide (inductive) charging - manage toll and access payments - reduce vehicle accidents - increase pedestrian safety and much more. #smartcity #connectedvehicles #av #trafficmanagement #trafficsafety #v2x #x2v #mobilityconcepts https://lnkd.in/djmpKKTa

Vice President bei EDAG Group | battery systems, e-motors, power electronics, large-scale storage systems (BESS), holistic vehicle and mobility applications
The development of the software-defined vehicle and its EE architecture is not only the basis for new business areas and new services that a vehicle or a mobile application (because I am not excluding trains, buses, ships, trucks, planes, etc.) can or must offer, but also an absolute necessity in order to enable autonomous vehicles or initially also driver-supporting systems in a customer-oriented manner and then to further develop them, to optimize them technically and from a cost perspective. That is why it is so important. That's why a lot is happening in this field and there is still a lot to clarify. Honda is increasing its budget for electrification and software development, Volvo Truck and Daimler Truck are joining forces to create the Software Defined Vehicle, Continental is showing the first central computer for all vehicle functions and Xiaomi and Huawei have been recognizing and targeting this for some time. https://lnkd.in/dNcSTU2V https://lnkd.in/dU25W2HH We have absolutely exciting and wonderful times ahead of us with unimagined possibilities, we just have to seize them. #software #vehicle #technology https://lnkd.in/dvECt342

Hi LinkedIn community, If the provider of innovative mobility services wants to use a Mercedes EQV teleoperated, the electric Mercedes not only needs the fail-safe driving and steering system from Arnold NextG, but also our "Magic Key". The EQV is one of the very few vehicles in which the ignition cannot be remotely controlled electronically. This means that the vehicle key must actually be physically inserted into the ignition lock - which of course does not work if no one is sitting in the car when the vehicle is controlled remotely🕹. And this is where the "Magic Key"🧙♂️ comes into play. It takes over the task of inserting the vehicle key into the ignition lock and activates the ignition with a single turn. This works either via a separate key in the car. Or, of course, by radio, controlled by the tele-driver. We control and start what moves the future! 😉 #safetybywire #drivebywire #steerbywire #brakebywire #wecontrolwhatmoves #magickey #teleoperation #Mercedes-Benz Deutschland
😉 ----- #safetybywire #drivebywire #steerbywire #brakebywire #wecontrolwhatmoves #magickey #teleoperation Mercedes-Benz Deutschland ----- If the provider of innovative mobility services wants to use a Mercedes EQV teleoperated, the electric Mercedes not only needs the fail-safe driving and steering system from Arnold NextG, but also our "Magic Key". Yes, 15 million registered electric vehicles by 2030 is certainly challenging, but we will do it! We are forecasting 11 to 12 million, why should 15 million be unrealistic. We just have to do it. Let's all think about our annual planning targets, how often are they unrealistic only to be achieved or even exceeded with courage and commitment. We will have many more events in the next few years that will make it clear that we need to phase out fossil fuels much faster, so I see 15 million as feasible and if there are fewer but we can increase public transport (including sharing and autonomous vehicles), then that's even better. #electric #vehicle #registrations https://lnkd.in/d3FZfaZR
