CEO | Retention Strategy Expert | Healthcare Consultant | Culture Transformation Strategist | Executive Coach | Nurse
Not all healthcare employees should be treated equally. 💡 You read that right. Read on. Too often we treat all employees the same from a retention point of view. It doesn’t work. Here’s why: It's essential to recognize the unique challenges faced by individuals holding the same title within an organization. Example: Two nurses in the same hospital. One works three 12 hour shifts in the ED, while the other works five 8 hour shifts in an outpatient setting and focuses on prior authorization work. One treats multiple level one traumas a day, the other argues endlessly with insurance companies. Neither is better than the other….just different. The levels of stress, patient acuity, and psychosocial needs are not the same for both. Crafting a one-size-fits-all retention plan is not effective for this reason. Acknowledging these individual differences among the same job class is crucial when creating retention strategies. Understanding the specific needs of each staff member can lead to more effective plans that address their unique challenges and contribute to a more supportive work environment. Always assess first. According to a study done by Everee, 67% of healthcare workers said they would be more likely to do locum tenens work so long as their contract is on a temporary basis so this can be done alongside their regular job(s). The same study done by Everee also found, 46% of healthcare workers said they are somewhat / very likely to leave their current role in the next 12 months. Why are healthcare workers looking to leave? For extra earnings, roughly 60% of current healthcare workers live paycheck to paycheck. I couldn't believe this, 60%! The Physicians, NPs and PAs I work with are seeing higher patient volumes than ever before and to add financial stress into their life on top of a shortage in staff numbers, I couldn't even begin to imagine. Myself and my team at Barton Associates are always happy to help continue educating providers on job market information, potential earnings, schedule, etc. so they can make an informed decision on if this is something that can coincide with their current situation. #healthcarecareer #healthcareworkers #healthcareindustry #hiring

This new world of healthcare is going to require companies to take a deep dive into their culture with a realistic lens. Are your supervisors treating staff like the experts they are, or are they micromanaging them to the point of shut down? Nurses and other hospital staff have worked hard to become the experts they are- build them up and let them care for the patients they way they are devoted to.
These days, dealing with recruiting and retention issues can feel like boxing an octopus. But one area where leaders can have a big impact is this: “Many health care workers do not feel they have a clear career path and opportunities for growth.” Thomas Rametta addresses this and other major drivers of retention for #healthcare employees, backed by helpful data from across the industry. As a #Recruiter, I understand the unique struggles that #Healthcare workers encounter every day. From maintaining operations under an increasingly tight budget to using the latest technological solutions for patient care, it's no wonder why many MSPs feel the pressure of balancing both quality care and profitability. On top of the ever-growing demands, these professionals must also navigate existing policies and procedures, while considering the effects of an ever-changing regulatory environment. Embracing new technologies and systems requires careful consideration of the implications for patient safety along with the bottom line.🤔 Therefore, it is essential for MSPs to have the proper resources and support in order to remain compliant and adequately service their clientele. ❤️ While the journey for many MSPs can feel overwhelming, there are strategies to make navigating the complexities of #Healthcare simpler. From setting achievable goals to developing strong relationships with professional contacts, MSPs must stay informed and focused on their ultimate success. 🤝 Finally, utilizing any beneficial connections and resources while carefully researching any changes in the health care landscape can help ensure that operations run as efficiently and effectively as possible. 😃 #MSPSuccess #HealthcareProfessionals #PatientCare
