Meningococcal Disease has returned to the headlines this week. What we’re seeing is less about the potentially devastating effects of this illness – which includes Meningitis and Septicaemia – and more about what we can do to better protect our young people. With the start of the academic year fast approaching, and the awareness that young people mixing in groups are especially vulnerable to Meningococcal Disease, the University is preparing a targeted information campaign for our students, their parents and whānau. We’ve also partnered with Te Whatu Ora | Health New Zealand on a vaccination drop-in centre to be held on Herea tō waka | Welcome Day [16 February].
