How can we revolutionize industries and reduce deforestation with innovative, sustainable solutions? Our #VentureFellows 2024 cohort member Algas Organics is leading the way with their groundbreaking approach to converting algae into sustainable products and fertilizers. Founded by Johanan Dujon, CEO, Algas Organics is committed to helping the packaging, paper, and pulp industry cut deforestation by utilizing their novel seaweed-based fiber. This fiber grows approximately 320 times faster, is about 40% cheaper, and uses around 80% less energy than traditional wood fiber. 🌍 Johanan Dujon shares their vision: "In the next 5-10 years, our seaweed-based pulp fiber would be adopted by major packaging and paper/pulp companies globally, allowing them to produce more with fewer trees. This innovation will mitigate 500 million tons of CO2e annually, by replacing the pulp from 1.4 billion trees per year, equivalent to removing 109 million cars off the road annually." Algas Organics’ patented extraction technology eliminates heavy metals from invasive Sargassum seaweed, transforming this biomass into cost-effective climate-tech solutions. By turning seaweed into valuable products, Algas Organics is making a significant impact on reducing carbon footprints and promoting sustainable practices across major industries. We are proud to support Algas Organics and their commitment to creating innovative solutions for a more sustainable future. 🌿 ________ Venture Fellows offers a no-cost, nine-month accelerator program providing guidance, resources, and funding to scale solutions for community-centric climate action. On auspicious day of Dussehra we (me and Vinayak) are launching our new venture (Biochar Byte) in climate space. At Biochar Byte, we believe in the power of unity and purpose. Every day, our journey is fuelled not just by our commitment to the environment but by the heartbeat of our most valuable asset – our people. 👨👩👧👦 Community at the Core: Our work transcends beyond business. It's about touching lives, uplifting communities, and creating a network of support and growth. In every handful of biochar, we see a story - a story of a smallholder farmer improving his yield, a family breathing cleaner air, and a community stepping into a sustainable future. 🌱 Biochar: A Catalyst for Change: Biochar is not just a product; it's a revolution in environmental and agricultural practices. It's transforming agriculture, enabling farmers to rejuvenate their soil, increase their productivity, and foster sustainable practices. But the impact of biochar goes even deeper – it's educating communities on the importance of biochar, thereby sowing the seeds for a greener tomorrow. 🌍Making the World a Better Place: Every step we take at Biochar Byte is a step towards a better world. Our mission extends beyond the boundaries of our facilities – it's about creating a global impact. We're proud to play a part in combating climate change, enhancing soil health, and contributing to a healthier planet. As we continue our journey, we carry with us the essence of our core values - people, community, family, and the environment. Together, we're not just making a difference; we're shaping a sustainable future. Please join us in this journey as climate worriers. Two weeks ago, I was able to visit the Greentech-Festival in Berlin. One of my personal highlights was a panel discussion with Deanna Kovar about sustainable agriculture and tomorrow’s working methods. She pointed out the openness and innovative mindset of farmers: “They leverage technology to help them make better decisions, lower the inputs they use to grow their crops, and increase yields - constantly looking for ways to grow more, with less.” To operate sustainably, farmers need reliable and cost-effective machinery. Currently, they rely on diesel fuel, as e-mobility is still developing. Until these technologies can support large-scale, multi-hour operations, biofuels are the key bridging technology. We, John Deere, lead by example with our innovative biofuel tractor project that was on display. By 2030, 30% of fuel-related greenhouse gas emissions must be reduced to achieve climate protection targets. Besides the innovative technology and engaging panel discussions, I enjoyed networking with leading enterprises and investors at the festival. I'm excited to return in 2025! #GreentechFestival2024 #SustainableFuture

🚀 Disruptive Innovation #2 As part of our "Disruptive Innovation" series from the OpenHouse by Top Tier Impact France X ChangeNOW, we spotlight Nicolas Weber Co-Founder & CEO of Voltiris. Voltiris innovates at the crossroads of agriculture and solar energy, empowering greenhouses to produce both crops and clean electricity with their pioneering technology. 💡 The Pitch: Voltiris modules are a game-changer, offering a dual-purpose solution for greenhouses. These modules not only enhance agricultural productivity through spectrum filtering but also harness solar energy to generate electricity. This technology allows for an unprecedented synergy between energy generation and crop cultivation, irrespective of the crop type. 🌱 Dual Benefits: Voltiris stands out by transforming greenhouses into multifunctional spaces that boost crop yield while contributing to a farm's energy needs. This approach not only optimizes land use but also promotes energy independence for farmers, all while pushing the boundaries of sustainable agriculture and renewable energy. Update from NAPOP: Resource management is key when establishing energy-intensive production plants like hydrogen electrolysis. Our recent press release, which was aimed at national media, has surprisingly garnered a tremendous amount of attention from industries and media outside Norway. It seems that the buzzwords; transition, sustainability, and circularity know no borders. Check out this: https://lnkd.in/dyCkdsvN
