Content & Social Media Strategy for both B2C & B2B Companies | 8 years experience in the Creator Economy | 3 x Founder
Any business that wants to stay relevant in the next 3 years must: Realise every company, is becoming a media company. And your customers attention is becoming more valuable. Online communities are fantastic for nurturing your customer base, understanding exactly who they are, what they want, and how you can serve them. But, just like IRL, online communities need fostering. I am sure you have heard of the job role “community manager” but have you heard of engagement specialist? “Engagement specialist” is how Jarrett Sherman describes community managers. They are: → Facilitating conversations → Nurturing the community → Actively participating To fuel engagement in the community. They MUST be someone ho is already a community member. So, when you're hiring your engagement specialist... Don't just hire someone based on their social media experience. Look for someone who: → Is already in the community → Gets the culture → Understands it → Uses the lingo → Is authentic PS - Next time... Jarrett and I will talk about what type of personality (using Myers-Briggs) is the best type of person to be an Engagement specialist. What do you think ENFP, INFJ or what do you think? Comment below! #gymshark #community #IRL #URL #communitycommerce

Integrative Transformation, Mindset, and Career Coach | Community Builder | Consciousness Explorer | Flow Catalyst | Ethics, Transparency, and Disclosure Advocate | Degrowth Dreamer | Parent
🇺🇸 The Harris campaign (which recently raised $100 million+) is #hiring for 90+ roles! Most roles are based in Wilmington, Delaware, but some are remote: 🛰️ Digital Organizing Manager ($65K - $85K) 🛰️ Supporter Communications Manager ($80K - $90K) 🛰️ Supporter Communications Strategist ($65K - $85K) 🛰️ Volunteer Creator Community Associate ($60K - $65K) 🛰️ State Press Secretary ($6,000 - $7,500 / month) There are also several remote internships ($17 / hour) available. Details: https://jobs.lever.co/BFP Thanks to Angelica Quicksey for her post that Brynna Quillin is hiring! Note: I am not affiliated with the campaign, so I can't answer questions about any of the roles. Additional note: I do not support every position that Harris has taken, and I like the idea of an open Democratic convention in August (because it seems more democratic), but I don't think that's realistic at this point. And, as much as I support progressive third party candidates, I don't think they can win in this upcoming election. I support getting money out of politics and developing a more democratic process for electing our leaders. That will not happen in this election cycle, so all U.S. voters will realistically have to choose between the Harris ticket and the Trump ticket, and the outcome will have a significant effect on the lives of millions—if not billions—of people.

Your mileage may vary, but I have always had a bit of a hard time telling friends and family what I actually do for a living, and it's getting more complicated by the minute. For a long time, we called what we did (mostly) "public relations," or if we wanted to get granular "media relations" and I could sort of describe this. Now, the broader industry is communications, and even within this broad structure we have ever more varied skill sets. But across all this change, evolution, complexity etc., I see three things that have remained constant. First is the power of story and narrative. Our jobs are finding those stories and helping illuminate them for the audiences we care about, through those who publish at scale ("publish" and "scale" meaning different things at different times, a blog post or a newsletter or a story broadcast on YouTube or cable equals "publishing"). Second is the ongoing value of prioritizing trust as a brand pillar. When we lose trust, we're in trouble. Transparency, ethical practices, and an active role in making your community, or the world, a better place helps a company rise above product capabilities or specs in the eyes of their customers, and provides for resiliency when there are challenges. And third is requirement to innovate in big and small ways, and to always balance that innovation with customer needs. Here at Microsoft, we think about this as "innovation that matters to me" as well as that capital "I" innovation that comes with huge breakthroughs. Both are required. This still doesn't solve my challenge of describing what I do when talking to people I don't know at parties, and I am mostly at peace with this. A former boss of mine would often just say she was an interior designer as a way of avoiding this all together, but I am pretty sure I would not survive one minute of conversations about that topic, either. I am open to suggestions!

Dear Colleagues, Ever wonder why you have to wait so long to get a plumber, when you call for one? What about an electrician? What about having to wait weeks and weeks for your mechanic to have the time available to attend to your car? 𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲, 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀, 𝘄𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀 -- those skills that make our lives livable in so many ways. Most often, these are careers for which one does not need a college education. As a result, young adults can get a lucrative, high-paying job in hundreds of trades and not emerge from four years of college education with debt and a degree which is hard to market. 𝗕𝘂𝘁, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀. 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝘃𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟭𝟮𝘁𝗵 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲. SkillsUSA Illinois is an organization on the move and is at the center of promoting the trades amongst high schools here in Illinois! As Senior Counsel for ACB - American City Bureau, Inc. , I have had the privilege of working with the team at SkillsUSA Illinois since January. The positive impact that the Organization has on the lives of young adults who are seeking a career in the trades is phenomenal. These positions are two great opportunities to get involved with a budding philanthropic services area, as we build it from scratch within the Organization.
🚨 We're Hiring! 🚨 SkillsUSA Illinois is excited to announce that we have two new positions available to join our team! If you or someone you know is passionate about making an impact and building partnerships, check out these exciting opportunities and apply today! 🌟 1️⃣ Director, Office of Philanthropy and Partnerships Lead the charge in cultivating relationships with individuals, corporations, and foundations to support our mission and annual fund goals. Leading Marketing and Experience at Lighthouse Technology Services | Membership Chair at AAF Buffalo
To all my friends out there looking for new marketing roles in Buffalo: You have a unique story to tell. Share it! SHOW what you love doing - don't just tell the world what you enjoy doing, you have a resume for that. - Are you story-driven, are you a storyteller at heart? - Are you data-driven, do you love observing behavior and uncovering insights? - Do you love the work of bringing people together around a common goal? When you think about these things more broadly, you think about everything you do in life (not just work) and you can show more sides of you. Sides that make you a more compelling hire. Here's my friend Shannon Truax talking about how she approaches her professional story in a broader sense, and how leaning into her passions guided her from being an English teacher to leading social media for some of the biggest brands in the country. And in closing, to Buffalo-area employers: there are tons of wicked-talented marketers I know available in Western New York RIGHT NOW who want to find something new and compelling and exciting. Listen to their stories. Be open to the possibilities of what's out there in terms of available talent. #BeALighthouse #Marketing #JobSearch #CareerGrowth
