Through the weekend, lots of my conversations revolved around Apple’s WWDC announcements last week. Within the current fervor of AI hype, I liked that Apple integrated #AI into WWDC discussions without trying to pretend AI is its products’ new differentiator. What caught my eye even moreso: Apple announced that it’s finally bringing RCS to its iPhones: https://lnkd.in/gkVJjbaD. With this move, Apple acknowledges the importance of channel feature parity. Think of all the times you’ve had the one Android or iOS user in your group text chat: their videos and images have loaded in lower-res. By adopting #RCS, Apple is prioritizing the customer experience and reality of a multi-channel world. (ie no, consumers aren’t only going to send messages to or from iOS!) I applaud this customer-first approach. RCS is an important concept for messaging overall as it introduces capabilities like branded sender IDs, rich media, and interactive content—scrollable carousels, quick replies, CTA buttons, and more. It provides a sleeker, more engaging experience while remaining within the messaging app built into end users’ smartphones (no new apps, no new accounts). These users receive an RCS message just as they would any other text message, but with a whole new level of interactivity and engagement. Thousands of Twilio customers have already sent more than one million RCS messages in the past 30 days using the Verify API. The best parts about Twilio APIs: you get the benefit of branded messaging, greater deliverability, and improved customer engagement without changing a single line of code. Per the article: The new built-in eye-tracking option allows people to use the front-facing camera to navigate through apps.
