Turns out a bag of carrots can be just like politics and just like business. Political, because the carrots themselves represent a certain concrete value in the marketplace. For a time. Then depending on the hands they land in, they become more or less valuable. A lot of people will go to the polls this weekend thinking about carrots, what they’ll get from whoever they hope ends up in power. I’m stuck thinking about what I’ll make from the carrots I get. I’m thinking about exponential value and how to get less dependent on carrots.

I had such a good night last night! I went to the pub, ordered three pints, drank one and then poured the other two on the floor… …said no one ever. Yet sadly when it comes to petrol vehicles, we’re doing just this. No, not drinking beer whilst driving but wasting a significant amount of fuel and energy. Petrol engines on the road today have an efficiency of around 30%, meaning that about 70% of the total power is lost as heat rather than the fuel being converted into useful motive power. 1 pint into the wheels, 2 pints out the window. Electric motors have an efficiency of around 85% meaning that for every three pints we order at the bar we’re spilling less than half a pint - still not perfect but much better than the alternative. Sure, there are some current applications where spilling more beer is convenient (towing heavy loads / motorhomes / long distance driving with a bladder of steel) but EV power/range is increasing and costs are dropping, especially in the Ute space. 🍜 Noodles! Everyone had their fill of chocolate yet? (Me neither, but back to the noodles for a moment...) 🙃 Sometimes I think we all can just feel a bit stuck still, or going round in circles or even going backwards. And I’m not talking about a disastrous driving test! I’m talking about how we can sometimes feel about what is going on (or perhaps more to the point what isn’t) in our lives. Why is this? Getting caught up in our own thinking can lead to a tangled concoction – what I refer to as ‘noodle soup brain’. Decisions, choices and actions get lost in it amongst the ‘thinking noodle knot’ – which can get messier, more obscure and harder to untangle! You don’t even know where to begin… hence the stuck still, going round in circles or possibly even feeling like you are going backwards. And nobody wants that. Working with a coach (like me!) is like having someone help you unravel the noodle knot – looking for the important strands as we go. The 'soup' becomes clearer and the decisions easier to make (and follow through on!)
