Twenty-five years ago, Chandra X-ray Observatory, built by Northrop Grumman, was successfully launched aboard NASA’s Columbia. Over the past twenty-five years Chandra has demonstrated what it means to pioneer exploration. Since the beginning of its mission, Chandra’s discoveries have resulted in over 11,000 scientific papers and generated over 70 trillion bytes of raw data. We are thrilled at what Chandra has accomplished so far, and we look forward to many more years of science to come! 🌌 🔭 🛰️ Learn more about Chandra here: http://ms.spr.ly/6042lVxyq #Chandra25 #NASA Cc: Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian
It is amazing how much #Chandra has accomplished. Great update and keep up the innovative work!
A while back, I attended a lecture at the Ohio Aerospace Institute about this X-ray telecope. Was amazing concept of its mirrors.
Well done! NG continues to lead America in space exploration, aircraft design, and scientific breakthroughs that set higher standards for NASA, U.S. Military and other U.S. government agencies. Keep up the great work! 🇺🇸
I believe it was boosted by a Boeing IUS. Who I worked for during that time. AXAF!
I hope Chandra gets the funding it needs to keep going. NASA's current budget calls for a large cut to Chandra's budget.
I attended this launch, wonderful experience
Love this
Well done!

2moAh yes, I enjoyed designing and working on the ISIM (Integrated Science Instument Module) for AXAF ( renamed Chandra X-ray Observatory) for 7 years, such an awesome experience! Then climbing around the Space Shuttle at 3:00am getting things ready. My most memorable moment was meeting and talking with Commander Eileen Carpenter as we finished. Always wonderful to work with and talk to the astronauts!
