Earlier this month, we celebrated our Bergen County Project SEARCH interns at their graduation. What could be better than having Bergen County, Bergen New Bridge Medical Center, Bergen County Job Center, the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, and the Division of Developmental Disabilities together to celebrate making this program a success and this celebration magnificent. We are proud to be the provider agency for this business-led internship program. Our interns will have great opportunities ahead and we cannot wait to see what they do. A special thanks to Camara, Michelle, Jasmine, and Angela for all you do! #NorthJerseyFriendshipHouse #ProjectSEARCH #BuildingSkillsforProductiveLives

Higher Education Executive Leader | Transforming lives through Higher Education | Lifting student and staff voices while fostering welcoming and inclusive campus communities
I am so happy to meet with our students — whether it’s 2 or 12 or 20:— to learn about their Cougar Experience, what we do well, and areas we could do better. Today we spent quite a bit of time on internships. #GoCoogs #studentaffairs #studentsuccess #highereducation #studentvoice
Dr. Daniel Maxwell, our Associate VC/VP of Student Affairs, hosted “Donuts with Dr. Dan” session with his fellow colleagues Dr. Monica Thompson, Executive Director of University Career Services and Dr. Anne Dayton, Director of the Cougar Initiative to Engage (CITE). The students shared their perspectives about internship opportunities and their cougar experience. The conversation was insightful, affirming, and filled with helpful feedback on the students experiences at UH. Thanks for coming out to chat, Coogs! New in The Journal of Child Life: Child Life Internship Readiness: Perspectives of Child Life Academics Brittany Wittenberg Camp, PhD, CCLS, CFLE, Kathryn Cantrell, PhD, CCLS, Cara Sisk, PhD, CCLS Child life academics and internship coordinators and supervisors are vital stakeholders in the student-to-professional pipeline because both perform unique roles in supporting students pursuing a child life career. This is the first study on child life internship readiness from the perspectives of child life academics. The results and discussion from this survey with child life academic professionals add to the conversation about the profession’s expectations for internship readiness. Study findings showcase the increasing delays and difficulties students experience obtaining a child life internship. Improved awareness, communication, and collaboration between these groups would be a strong first step in addressing the profession’s need to improve the documented job crisis in child life. Another thought for #Childlifeinternship coordinators in the week before #OFFERWEEK: As a faculty member at #BankStreetCollegeofEducation, I assist students in preparing for fieldwork and internships. In the past, I have advised them that hospital Child Life teams look for a "good fit" when evaluating potential candidates. However, in light of the growing awareness of racial and ethnic diversity disparities within our field and the unique needs of neurodivergent learners, I am questioning whether this approach is still appropriate. In our polarized world, barriers are broken down when we open ourselves to different points of view, backgrounds, language styles, and temperaments. Maybe the next best intern isn't the one who fits in, but the one who challenges your team to grow and engage in courageous conversations. Please consider this while making your final decisions about what is good for your team.

September 20th is #WhyApply Day in Tennessee! One of my top reasons for choosing APSU - community. Professors, mentors, and peers helped push me to excel in many ways. I had opportunities to showcase my work and knowledge in research competitions, and an on-campus internship. These connections have turned into life-long friends. At APSU, there’s someone who will help you achieve your dreams and goals. #LetsGoPeay 🎩🧐 #CollegeApplicationandExplorationMonth
