Hunger continues to be one of the most challenging barriers to health equity in our community. The folks at Second Helpings are continuing to do what they can, but they can't do it alone. Let's all find a way to work together to help our neighbors fight the issues that keep them food insecure, or led them there in the first place. Housing insecurity, childcare insecurity, transportation insecurity, losing a job and/or challenges with finding new employment... There are many factors to what causes or keeps a family food insecure, and while getting them fed is a priority, we all need to call more attention to the root causes and focus on solutions together. In the meantime, please consider supporting our friends at Second Helpings, as they are able to stretch every dollar into some of the most delicious and nutritious meals in our community! Looking to get involved in deeper solutions? Reach out, and let's talk! #FoodEquity #HealthEquity #SecondHelpings #NourishEDGEsolutions
The Indy Hunger Network estimates that 31% of Marion County residents, nearly a third of our neighbors, need food assistance. Their 2023 Hunger Study found that "hunger was at its highest level in the last decade. We feel those statistics every day in our Hunger Relief kitchen, where we continue to break records for monthly production numbers. As Second Helpings experiences increased costs, we need your support to continue producing more meals. Every $1.71 provides a meal for someone in our community: https://lnkd.in/dcqkKYYx

Hunger Action Month: Keep Pushing Forward As we take action against hunger this month, we’re inspired by a favorite quote from Jay Hawkins, Director of Food Recovery Programs: “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” – Thomas Edison This Hunger Action Month, let’s remember that every effort counts. From rescuing food from retailers to advocating for policy change, every action brings us one step closer to ending hunger in New York State. Together, we can push through challenges and make a real impact. Don’t give up—we’re closer than we think! #hungeractionmonth #togetherwecanendhunger

For years, West Advisory Group has proudly partnered with the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwestern Pennsylvania, working together to alleviate hunger in Erie County and beyond. We’ve witnessed firsthand the devastating impact that food insecurity can have on families and individuals in our region. Hunger doesn’t just mean empty stomachs—it means children struggling to focus in school, parents facing difficult choices between groceries and bills, and seniors who’ve worked their entire lives left without enough to eat. This issue affects the very fabric of our community, and that’s why we’ve made it our mission to take action. Through our long-term partnership with Second Harvest, we’ve seen the incredible difference that consistent support can make. Every meal provided, every life touched, strengthens our community and brings us closer to a brighter, more secure future for all. We took action because we know that hunger is an issue we can’t afford to ignore. You can take action too. Join us in supporting Second Harvest and help make Northwestern Pennsylvania a place where no one goes hungry. #NWPAFoodBank #HungerActionMonth #HAM2024

For over thirty-five years, the Anne Arundel County Food Bank (AACFB) has provided critical services such as food, emergency supplies, and other necessities free of charge to our network pantry partners and the neighbors we serve. During the pandemic crisis through the relief provided by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), AACFB was awarded approximately $1.3M annually for four consecutive years to meet the high demand for food assistance. The COVID-relief funding to support hunger relief efforts that the food bank has relied on to meet the demand will end in June 2024. Yet the need for supplemental food in our community remains alarmingly high. Currently, AACFB is averaging more than 48,000 points of service monthly. This is 13% more than this time last year. Join us at one of Anne Arundel County's upcoming budget town hall meetings to testify to the positive impact that the work of the Food Bank has on you, your immediate community, and/or the County as a whole. Partnership at the county level is needed now more than ever to ensure that the people of Anne Arundel County experiencing food insecurity can continue to access fresh, nourishing food, free of charge. #advocacy #foodinsecurity #annearundelcounty
Community voices are critical in our democracy, whether in Washington or closer to home. The food bank is sharing our voice at the county’s upcoming budget town halls, advocating for much needed dollars to help alleviate food insecurity in our county.
