The FSR and/or SWM also state how much surface water needs to be retained on site during a storm event, how groundwater is managed, how much wastewater is estimated to be generated on-site, etc. Some of this information is derived from the design. For example, the number and size of units translate to the amount of wastewater through established formulas. But some of the information requires external studies, notably Hydrogeological (sometimes part of a Geotechnical), Downstream Analysis, Hydrant Flow Test, and sometimes Slope Stability and\or Water Quality Reports. Without information found in such studies, Civil Engineers may not be able to deliver a Civil package for submission. Chapter 7 – Stirling Trunk Main Duplication Stirling Trunk Main Duplication DN1400 – Shire of Harvey In 2012, DM Civil was awarded a contract to install a 23 kilometre long duplication of the existing DN1400 Stirling Trunk Main (STM) starting from Clifton Road west of Yarloop, up to Fishermans Road west of Coolup. The pipeline was designed to allow Water Corporation an increased hydraulic capacity to take water from the upgraded Southern Seawater Desalination Plant. The installation of the DN1400 pipework duplication was carried out while the STM was in full operation. Accordingly, asset protection measures were second only to safety, and we worked in partnership with the STM operator for the entire project to ensure that the main remained undamaged and fully functional. The contract scope was to install the DN1400 MSCL pipework including DN1200 section valves, along with a cross-connection to the existing surge vessel protection, connection to a DN300 local water supply and electrical protection (CP and VM). Pasture reinstatement, stock control and stakeholder management for the twenty-two land owners was also a contract imperative. Treatment of 57,000 cubic metres of acid sulphate soils along the alignment was an environmental priority with trenchside spoil testing and liming used to streamline production. The project also won the 2013 Civil Contractor Federation WA Earth Awards Category 4. As with our trunk main projects before, this project allowed the increased flow delivered to the system to give Water Corporation more flexible storage and water transfer options for the IWSS. #dmcivil #companyhistory #pipelinesperth
