Small colleges are under significant strain. According to the S&P Global Ratings' 2024 Midyear Outlook Report, 10% of rated public and private universities have received a negative outlook. This means that higher ed now has one of the bleakest economic forecasts. As financial pressures continue to mount in the face of declining enrollment and increasing operating costs, it's crucial for higher ed administrators to proactively navigate these challenges, explore strategic options, and safeguard their institutions' futures.
