It’s crucial to understand that sometimes a diverse team feels less efficient than a homogeneous team due to a phenomenon known as “cognitive elaboration,” or thinking harder about a task or function. Efficiency should not be our only goal—excellence should always take priority. That requires employees getting comfortable with being uncomfortable.

A versatile team is essential to success because it brings together diverse skills and perspectives, allowing the group to adapt to challenges more effectively. With members who can handle various tasks and switch between roles as needed, the team becomes more resilient and efficient. This adaptability not only enables the team to respond quickly to changing circumstances but also fosters innovation, as different viewpoints can lead to creative solutions. Furthermore, the broad expertise within a versatile team reduces reliance on external resources and enhances collaboration, making the team more capable of achieving its goals.✌️

As time passes, we realise how important alignment between team members is to develop and achieve positive outcomes. From the very beginning, our partnership has been based on mutual trust, respect and value alignment. At A&M we have our roles based on our experience, expertise and personal preferences that make our work sustainable and enjoyable. Well, despite our alignment, things do not always go 100% smoothly 😒 😅 We have two different personalities: Mishka INTJ (Architect) and Ana INFJ-T (Advocate) where Mishka makes straightforward/practical decisions, while Ana always questions and scrutinises them and often refers to her intuition. It entails the process of a bit of “scratching”, “whatever-ring” and “eye-rolling” but we eventually come to a well-discussed and agreed decision 😊

#MondayMotivators Integrity and trust are essential elements for fostering a positive team dynamic and achieving collective goals. Even with all the wealth in the world, being the only person on Earth wouldn't bring happiness because human connection and collaboration are fundamental to fulfillment. Similarly, in the workplace, relying solely on a one-man-show approach disregards the power of teamwork and shared responsibility. This neglect of collaboration leads to poor outcomes and dissatisfaction among team members, as it limits the exchange of ideas, creativity, and collective problem-solving. Ultimately, this approach hinders synergy and innovation, hampering the organization's success.

One of the hardest, but most valuable, skills we can develop is the ability to listen when someone corrects us and to shift our thinking when they are right. It’s not about who’s right or wrong; it’s about what’s best for the team and the outcome we’re all working towards. When we leave our egos at the door and embrace correction as an opportunity to improve, we foster an environment where everyone is empowered to share, collaborate, and grow. This openness is what builds the strongest, most adaptable teams

𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 If a team is to become highly productive, they must develop the capacity to engage in constructive task-related conflict and to leverage their diversity. This can be the catalyst for creative and inventive thinking and open-mindedness to new solutions. When channeled effectively, disagreement that emerges from working across team members’ differences can be an instrument for overcoming other dangers that groups face, such as blind spots, arrogance, or groupthink. To unleash the potential of your team and organization and to benefit from the diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences on the team, everyone on the team needs to feel comfortable sharing ideas and trying out new behaviors and practices without fear of judgment or punishment.
