📸 Dimitris Dermentzoglou shines on the main stage of ICCE2024. 🌟 He delivers four take home messages on extreme wave action over salt marshes: 🏗 Scale models of wave attenuation show good agreement with large-scale flume experiments like Möller et al. (2014). 🌾 Vegetation preferentially dissipates higher wave frequencies, leading to an increase of the spectral wave period (Tm-1,0). 📈 An application of the formula by Bas Hofland et al. (2017) was present, which can be utilised to predict Tm-1,0 at the toe of the dike. 🌊 Intense wave breaking increases the breaker parameter (γb).
