I increasingly appreciate how the innovation of Software-Defined Vehicles must be intentionally managed and nurtured. Incremental bets continually add up to improved user (driver/passenger) experience. Industry-specific process management frameworks like Automotive SPICE may be perceived as daunting but in addition to the obvious quality assurances to vehicle manufacturers, they ensure progress and consistency: two important (underrated) ingredients for innovation. RTI just announced achieving Automotive SPICE CL1, further demonstrating its commitment to delivering the highest quality infrastructure software enabling the future of Software-Defined Vehicles. #Innovation #CX #SDVs #ThisIsRTI #ConnextDrive #QualityAssurance

How do Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs) remain compliant in a world of constant software updates? As SDVs evolve, the demand for a robust compliance framework that keeps pace with global regulations is more critical than ever. Traditional homologation methods simply can’t keep up with the continuous software updates that shape vehicle performance and safety. At Certivity, we’re committed to advancing regulatory compliance in the automotive sector with a data-driven approach. That’s why we’ve teamed up with Bosch, ETAS, TÜV Rheinland Group, T-Systems International-Ferdinand-Steinbeis-Institut and Hochschule Heilbronn - Hochschule für Technik, Wirtschaft und Informatik from digital.auto Project to address the unique challenges SDVs face—especially with a focus on homologation. There are three main categories of software updates to consider: 1. Updates with no impact on homologation – These typically involve convenience features with no regulatory implications. 2. Updates affecting convenience features but requiring homologation – These may trigger a technical service review and require an extension or update of an existing approval. 3. Critical updates impacting safety-related functions – These undergo rigorous testing, such as updates to ADAS features, particularly Level 3 and beyond. A notable example is Mercedes-Benz AG-Benz’s upcoming software update, which aims to enhance their homologated Level 3 systems by increasing speed capabilities from 60 to 95 km/h. This will be the first software update to boost the performance of an L3 system without any hardware changes, marking a significant moment in automotive innovation. Congratulations to Mercedes-Benz! We’ve been focusing on streamlining the process for OEM teams to quickly assess whether a software update falls into these categories. Our research has led to a new approach that enhances compliance processes for SDVs throughout their lifecycle, supporting agile, iterative development while maintaining regulatory adherence. 📘 In our latest whitepaper, we dive into this innovative approach and how it ensures that SDVs remain cutting-edge and compliant. Innovation may be driven by #software, nevertheless, newcomers also shouldn't underestimate the continuing importance of engineering expertise. To make a vehicle #safe, #operational, #compliant with #regulations and durable enough to be driven for decades automakers still need to tap into their core in-house skills. The difference is that now the software, platform and automotive business worlds need to come together and collaborate. In addition, automakers need to create a solid vision in terms of architecture and how to run the development process. Technological platforms are slowly getting there, although many remain too fragmented. #automotiveindustry #softwaredefinedvehicles #sdv

Check out our publication on trends in software development that the automotive industry is pursuing!
How will software commercialization accelerate the advancement of the software-defined vehicle (#SDV)? As the complexity of #AutomotiveSoftware skyrockets – now averaging over 100 million assembly lines of code per vehicle - #OEM in-vehicle software costs have surged by nearly 50% from 2021 to 2024. However, only 10% of automotive software is sold separately from the hardware. As the #AutomotiveIndustry races towards the era of the software-defined vehicle, it’s evident that the current approach is unsustainable. In this insightful report by Markus Baum, Konstantin Shirokinskiy in collaboration with SDVerse, they explore the transformative #trends in #SoftwareDevelopment that the automotive industry is pursuing, identify where it lags and discuss what contributes positively to reaching the goal. While the external trainer model is nothing new, this move by Randstad Digital to set up training CoEs in next-gen tech areas is interesting. I bet we'll see more of this, especially for GenAI and other niche tech areas, as third parties can build efficient, industrial scale for such programs, whereas enterprises may lack the wherewithal to do this solo!
Excited about the opportunities to partner with automative clients in providing Software defined vehicle (SDV) solutions with talent centric approach #sdv #randstaddigital #digitalenablement
