*Late Adopters* It's always amazing when you can identify a phenomenon in real life that you have discussed in a classroom. During one of our MSc classes with Dr Solomon Oyeleye, we discussed the different types of adopters, and at the Arewa TechFest, I identified one of the classes of adopters: the late adopters. I observed that two days before the event, many people called Deji Garuba, asking how they could participate. Some people wanted to join the panel, some to get an exhibition booth, or even speak at the event. There we were, about to enter the final lap of months of planning and promotions, but they were only just convinced it was finally going to happen 😅 Those moments were instructive for me in many ways: I could link situations in my work to something we had talked about in class, and I could also see how, no matter how great your idea is, not everyone will latch on to it immediately. It would be best to not let public perception or reception be the yardstick with which you will commit yourself to your dream or vision. If they don't catch on now, they will come around later. The challenge for the event was presented by students conducting research for their theses.
