This week, we analysed 40 European InsurTech players and gathered insights on how the lack of data/API standards form a major roadblock to replacing legacy systems. PE-led interest has been very high, with ~90% of the identified assets being sponsor-backed. Factors appealing to investors include market disruption potential through advancements in AI and ML and recurring revenue streams. High R&D investments, the introduction of the new EU AI Act, lagging adoption due to legacy system restrictions and entry threats from large software developers act as detractors in this space.
