IMPROVING ROAD SAFETY CAN HELP FREE UP OUR AMBULANCES The Australasian College of Road Safety (ACRS) has highlighted the significant burden road crashes place on the healthcare system, especially ambulances and hospitals. In 2021-2022, over 61,000 Australians were hospitalised due to road crashes, resulting in 168 ambulance trips daily. With road fatalities and serious injuries increasing, the strain on emergency services is growing. ACRS CEO Dr Ingrid Johnston emphasises the need for improved road safety, not only to save lives but also to alleviate pressure on healthcare services. Achieving the national goal of a 30% reduction in serious injuries by 2030 would free up essential medical resources and help reduce the $27 billion annual cost of road crashes. 🚑 The challenge of ambulance response times in Latin America 🚑 In many cities across the region, the average ambulance response time can exceed 40 minutes, while the international standard is just 8 minutes. This delay not only compromises timely medical care but also endangers the lives of thousands in critical emergency situations. We address this urgent need by integrating public and private emergency services, allowing for better coordination and real-time response from both sectors, making emergency management more efficient. 📢 If you are in the sector or wish to support us, we invite you to learn more at: https://opencitiesapp.com #Emergencies #Ambulances #PublicHealth #Technology #SmartCities #OpenCities
