Exciting news! As part of Dementia Action Week on Saturday 21 September we are launching A Day at the Movies: a series of Dementia Friendly Screenings at the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia in Canberra. We are kicking things off with the much-loved Australian musical comedy Strictly Ballroom, from the NFSA Restores program, with more films planned in November, February and beyond. Working with visionary project lead UNSW film academic Jodi B. and powerhouse screen industry specialist Karina Libbey, this has been a passion project years in the making, informed by extensive research and community consultation. We have been supported and guided in this work by the ACT Government our venue partner NFSA UNSW University of New England (AU) Carers ACT Dementia Australia. We can all play a role in making our communities more dementia-friendly. Our aim is to make the movie-going experience more inclusive, welcoming and enjoyable for people living with dementia, their carers, families and friends.  #DementiaActionWeek To book tickets for Saturday’s launch see link in the comments.  You can read more about A Day at the Movies in this interview with the project team by Rochelle Siemienowicz for ScreenHub:
