𝗧𝗼 𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗜 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 - 𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘆! 🇸🇬 I don’t usually post two days in a row, but today is an exception. Singapore holds a special place in my heart, and on this significant day, I couldn’t let it pass without sharing my admiration for a country that has shown me the true essence of diversity. Singapore’s success is undeniable, and its innovative approach to diversity should serve as an example to many. This island nation demonstrates that it’s not the size of the population that propels a country forward, but the quality and active participation of its people. From inclusive policies and a robust education system to a business-friendly environment, Singapore consistently demonstrates that unity in diversity is key to a nation’s success. The government’s close relationship with its people exemplifies what leadership proximity should look like. Singapore’s commitment to inclusivity and innovation has created a thriving, dynamic society that I deeply admire and miss. Let’s celebrate Singapore’s achievements and learn from its example. P.S - What do you believe is the secret behind Singapore’s success as a country? 𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘆 #Singapore #Education #Business #Leadership

Happy 59th Birthday, Singapore! 🇸🇬 From a modest fishing village to a towering skyline. Singapore's journey is a testament to what vision and perseverance can achieve. Today, let's celebrate this transformation and draw inspiration for our own paths to excellence. 𝗔 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 We were small, A mere dot to some, A fishing village of no consequence. But with heart and resolve, Our forefathers transformed this nation: From atap houses to towering skyscrapers, From muddy tracks to vast expressways, From scarcity to abundance in every form. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻’𝘀 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆: -> Persistence Pays Off: Just as relentless dedication shaped our country, let it shape your personal and professional goals. -> Focus on the Prize: Vision transformed our landscape; let clear goals guide your pursuits. -> Embrace Transformation: Innovate and adapt, just as our nation embraced its evolution from humble beginnings to global prominence. -> Recognize and Leverage Strengths: Identify your unique skills, much like Singapore capitalized on its strategic location to become a financial hub. 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 Today, we stand tall, not just in physical stature but in global repute—respected, recognized, and revered. But let us not rest here. Let challenges inspire solutions, Let imperfections prompt progress. For what we've achieved is but a fraction of what we can truly accomplish. 𝗔𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹𝘀, 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Have passion, focus, Put in the hard work, Surround yourself with those who uplift you, Be problem solvers, not complainers. Slowly, surely, You’ll reap the rewards, Just as Singapore continues to flourish. Majulah Singapura. Onward, to greater heights and deeper fulfillment! #SingaporeSuccess #LeadershipLessons ---------------------- I am Alvin Huang , a damm proud Singaporean. Meaningful Team Building Workshops for Building Great Teams | Co-founder @ Corporate Compass | Team Building Facilitator for Leadership Teams
🌍 Lessons from Singapore: A Historical Perspective 🌍 I recently had the chance to visit Singapore, and as a history buff, I was keen to explore its past. Singapore’s transformation from a small trading post to a thriving global metropolis in the latter half of the 20th century is nothing short of remarkable. What can we learn from Singapore's rapid development? Visionary Leadership: Strong, forward-thinking leadership under Lee Kuan Yew was pivotal. His policies and vision laid the foundation for Singapore’s success. Strategic Planning: Meticulous urban planning and investment in infrastructure have created a highly efficient and livable city. Emphasis on Education: Investing heavily in education has cultivated a skilled and adaptable workforce, driving innovation and economic growth. Economic Policies: Pro-business policies and strategic positioning as a global trade hub have attracted multinational corporations and fueled economic expansion. Social Harmony: Promoting multiculturalism and social cohesion has ensured a stable and inclusive society. Singapore's journey is a testament to what can be achieved with vision, determination, and strategic execution. It offers valuable lessons for countries and businesses alike striving for growth and development. #Singapore #History #Development #Leadership #UrbanPlanning #Education #EconomicGrowth #SocialCohesion

A polished and professional business leader with 32 over years of experience in sales, business development and management.
"Granted, we are no longer building a nation from scratch, but neither can we afford to cruise along and just rely on existing formulas. "We have to act with agility, foresight and gumption. We have to seek fresh solutions and chart our own path to take Singapore forward." Above was an extract from the National Day speech of our Singapore PM last night. It reasonates very loudly and could relate back to the recent announcement of the impending change of our Thermal business. As we prepare to transition and form a new standalone company, we are not building it from scratch. While we do have a strong legacy, powerful brands and a wealth of collective knowledge plus experience, we certainly cannot afford to just cruise along nor rest on our laurels. This is an important opportunity for us to chart our future - what and how we want to position ourselves. We need to plot and map out our domains and playground where we can grow incrementally. The leadership team of the new Thermal company needs to think and act with Agility, wider foresight and gumption. We have to look and think outside the box to see where we can play and how we can win.

1️⃣ Totally Agree with you Respected Prime Minister Lawrence Wong 🇸🇬 2️⃣ Singapore 🇸🇬 as it is today has become rather transactional minded - this cuts across our ecosystem and economy; to change this mindset where by default to include others in our thoughts, words and actions is a major major shift !!! 3️⃣ Coco Veda does pursue this path as a Triple Bottomline Small Business which we hope can grow, scale and internationalise as a proud Singapore 🇸🇬 brand with an in-built Farm to Consumer Sustainability Model. In other words, we Do Well and Do Good in equal measure with NO CHANGE to our fundamental processes. 4️⃣ As it stands, this a road less travelled and we can only achieve this through meaningful like-minded collaborations as well as support. We're constantly reaching out; it would be great if this trend reverses and we get approached for collaborations. 5️⃣ That will then be a sign of the new Social Fabric that you hope to achieve PM Lawrence Wong Gratitude for your heartled thought leadership and sharing. #Singapore #singapura #majulahsingapura #mindset #change 🙏🏾🇸🇬🙏🏾🥥🙏🏾

It was inspiring to hear Lawrence Wong’s definition of the Singapore Dream - one in which everyone can be supported in being the best versions of themselves. However, I wonder the extent to which he has considered how it can be applied to the special individuals in our midst - non-verbal autistic individuals and those with rare diseases, whose way of being are challenging to understand. In our small nation, how can we stretch our mentality, hearts and minds to truly understand enough to support them adequately so that they can be their best selves, even if such versions may look unfamiliar to most? (Check out A Mother’s Wish’s 5-video series to learn more about the inner lives of autistic individuals: www.amotherswish.com.sg)

And then it’s over, leaving Singapore out of the blue 🚪 💭 The last 2,5 years I dedicated myself to the ambitious plans of Lion City Sailors FC. Building up a professional club, including professional staff and most and foremost a professional working culture was not easy. I learned a great deal of things over these years, here is my top 10 👇: 1. A plan and some nice presentations aren’t enough 2. Clarity about roles and responsibilities is crucial 3. You need vision, revision, engagement and perseverance 4. Stick to the plan 5. Don't avoid difficult conversations, keep them going 6. Never stop listening to each other 7. You cannot make everybody happy all the time 8. Trust and support are an absolute prerequisite 9. Ensure a safe working environment 10. Don’t play it safe, dare to take risks ❌ Directors and coaches who act as ‘curling coaches’ will not be able to achieve anything. Prioritising a culture of smiling and waving, sweeping away every single bump or obstacle on the way will merely lead to mediocrity. Solely short-term thinking leads to a focus on survival. Survivors don’t take risks, are not trustworthy, nor do great things. Regardless of what happens in life, never stop trusting people. 🙏 A special thanks to the people who supported me. Thank you WIMU Sports, Kitman Labs and VALD Performance for our collaboration. ⏩️ As sports professionals, we should always aim high. I’m looking forward to do something great again in the future!
