As a practitioner we are now serving and attending to a diverse groups of individual, couples and families. The nature of our clientele group are shaping and reshaping our minds, the way we attend to them and what constitutes an outcome. Neurodivergent individuals refer to those whose neurological development and functioning differ from the societal norm. This can include conditions such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and others. Simultaneously, mental illness affects a significant portion of the population, impacting their emotional well-being and cognitive functioning. Acknowledging and understanding the significance of neurodiversity and mental health is crucial in today's society as it affects families, education, workforce and our health system. #InPerspective Connecting two awareness themes in one for this post. #MentalHealth and #AANHPI Acronym word salad aside, I want to call out and honor the resilience the community has. It's easy to say in an Instagram quote - "bloom where you're planted," but it's an uphill struggle to make your way through a different environment. It takes special grit and gusto to keep navigating, succeeding and rising WHILE resisting gaps, stereotypical and other biases. It is taxing on mental health in invisible ways. As this month ends, I have especially read authors, sought out industry rising stars and leaders to stay inspired. My learning is a simple one liner: Cultural roots x creative branches = Rich, diverse thoughts and actions. #keepyourvoiceon 📣 and choose organizations and communities that choose you.
