The days of sitting around and waiting for a package are over. Receiving parcels has become a near-daily occurrence with the rise of online shopping – But with the passage of time, we’ve also become more mobile. So we have times we’re at work, home, the gym, running errands – And the combination of these two factors has become a challenge for the logistics industry. Managing customer expectations and availability while efficiently planning order fulfillment is growing increasingly difficult – For example, if a customer can only be available to collect an item at 3 PM, Then how do we ensure that our drivers can fulfill the order on time, and simultaneously plan deliveries around the same time in the same area or zone, All while meeting every individual customer’s preferences? This is a challenge that we must address to ensure that we sustainably meet the needs of our customers. The fact is we may never be able to find a solution that resolves this perfectly, But at least 80% of our deliveries must be planned efficiently. I see IT and AI playing a big role in this, and with the advent of new technology like delivery robots and drones, we might be headed for a solution in a new direction altogether. If you work in logistics, have you experienced this? How do you plan for these situations? #Technology #Innovation #Leadership #ArtificialIntelligence
