When talking about complex and nuanced environmental issues, it is crucial to engage stakeholders so you can consider the range of people who will be impacted. Kudos to our summer intern, Jade Devriendt, who developed this infographic to explain some of the many stakeholder interests around menhaden–a small but critically important species that creates a huge ripple effect throughout the ecosystem and the economy. What other menhaden stakeholders would you add? #stakeholderengagement #environmentalcommunication #menhaden

The USGBC California Green Building Corps (GBC) represents a structured internship initiative that offers participants a valuable chance to gain practical experience, forge connections, and actively contribute to green building projects. The objective is to enhance the overall well-being, affordability, and sustainability of California for all its residents. Participants in this program extend their support to various projects, including the USGBC California Annual Environmental Justice Project, Green Schools microgrant initiatives, the California Native Plant Landscape Curriculum, as well as other chapter programs and member groups. Additionally, green building projects are identified from within architecture, engineering, and construction firms, sustainability consultancies, public agencies, and community partners. The goal is for these projects to yield public or community benefits, enabling those seeking opportunities to acquire hands-on experience, foster connections, and strengthen their positioning for future employment. https://lnkd.in/ghNdjxjU

🐠 A new #CASCFunded study found that freshwater native fish in Puerto Rico respond differently to droughts and floods when non-native fish are present. This is important since the Caribbean is projected to experience more extreme flow events in the future(s). There's plenty of fish in the sea, but some of them should definitely not be there 🤨 (and by sea I mean river) Non-native fish presence can change the way that freshwater native fish in Puerto Rico respond to droughts and floods, which have been exacerbated by climate change. I wrote about the paper that saw these results at the link below! Check it out 🫶🏼
