As I stand backstage, I can't help but feel a sense of effervescence. There's growing speculation among insiders and forecasters that Joe Biden might drop out of the race. If this happens, it suggests that Democrats believe they need a game-changer to regain momentum. Many will comment on the politics of this. I would rather focus on the business environment aspect of the debate. It seems that turning the tables has become a favored strategy for policymakers to overcome challenges (France is no exception). For most of us, predicting their moves is increasingly difficult because we don't fully understand their calculations. Moreover, humans are notoriously bad at acting on probabilities. We often overestimate the impact of likely events and underestimate less likely ones. This is a call to stay open-minded. The past decade has shown us that the seemingly impossible can (and will?) happen.

Biden is very very old. Do you really see him being a vibrant leader in 2 years? Congress is the secret sauce. Without an across the isle cooperative spirit the next POTUS will tread water. No one I know has come up with a business plan to address unsustainable deficits and debt. An existential threat to future generations. Most people who chime in on LinkedIn offer emotional confirmation bias with little to no path to solving the vexing problems. “Pay your fair share” is hollow. What is a fair share? How do we address the cash and barter economy? What are the emerging job sectors that will employ the lower 4 quintiles? The planet is broke!
