Congratulations to Dr. Rasel Rana on completing the FIRST dualX® case in Northwell Mather Hospital in Port Jefferson, New York, using Amplify Surgical’s dualX® Dual Expanding Interbody Technology. We look forward to further collaboration with the dualX® technique to improve patient outcomes. Welcome to the growing #dualXcommunity! The #dualX® Dual Expanding Interbody Cage expands in both horizontal and vertical directions, providing an ALIF-sized geometry through a posterior approach. Shown below is the #dualX® T/PLIF (Transforaminal/Posterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion), designed for both Transforaminal and Posterior approaches. Amplify Surgical’s #dualX® system delivers a powerful dual-expanding implant through a minimally-invasive surgical corridor designed to reduce anatomical trauma and nerve retraction, helping surgeons achieve optimal results for their patients while minimizing the risk of subsidence. Big changes on the horizon in the wound care space.
We're back with the buzz from the Spring Symposium on Advanced Wound Care (SAWC) in Orlando! SAWC brought together over 1800 clinicians and a record number of new industry attendees, with the biggest discussion among the crowd being the recent draft Local Coverage Determination (LCD) for Cellular and Tissue-Based Products (CTPs), which proposes to reduce covered products from 220 to 15 and limit treatments to four applications. Despite these proposed restrictions, the wound care market is seeing promising advancements in diagnostics and autologous therapies. Leading companies like MolecuLight , Mimosa, RedDress Ltd., and Reapplix are making strides with exciting developments in the dressing market, and Organogenesis is making moves in orthopedics with their Renew solution for knee osteoarthritis. Check out our Buzz Report for more insights and let us know in the comments about the advances you're excited about! May-Thurner Syndrome occurs when the right iliac artery compresses the left iliac vein against the spine, restricting blood flow from your left leg to your heart. May-Thurner Syndrome symptoms may include: - leg swelling - chronic leg pain - DVT (blood clot) in the leg - one leg larger than the other - chronic venous insufficiency - varicose veins in the pelvic area - skin discoloration in the lower leg or ankle - venous ulcers in the lower leg that do not heal At Milford Vascular Institute our vascular surgeons use the latest intravascular ultrasound technology (IVUS) to diagnose and treat May-Thurner Syndrome on an outpatient basis accurately. Using IVUS intravascular ultrasound for precision, our vascular specialists open up the iliac vein by placing a stent in the exact location where the iliac vein is compressed. Once the stent is placed, blood flow from the left leg to the heart is restored. 🆘 Traumatic Cardiac Arrest: A Critical Approach 🆘 Traumatic cardiac arrest (TCA) presents a unique and challenging scenario in emergency care. According to the European Resuscitation Council (ERC) guidelines, TCA requires a structured and aggressive approach to address the reversible causes: 🔸 Key ERC Guideline Points: 1-Immediate management of reversible causes (e.g. tension pneumothorax, cardiac tamponade, severe hemorrhage). 2-Priority of interventions: Control bleeding, ensure adequate ventilation, and rapid fluid resuscitation over chest compressions. 3-Rapid transport to a trauma center is vital for interventions such as thoracotomy or surgery. Understanding and applying these critical steps can improve survival in these high-stakes situations. Let's always be prepared and informed. #TraumaCare #CardiacArrest #EmergencyMedicine #ERC #ALS #LifeSupport #CriticalCare

☝ A hidden potential for identifying patients in need of supervised rehabilitation! 🔊 Research findings A cohort study of 101 patients found that 42% of patients with a distal radius fracture experienced disability 6 months after surgery. Disability was defined as a score of ≥11 on the Disability of the Arm, Hand and Shoulder (DASH) questionnaire. Patients was offered supervised rehabilitation based on the healthcare practitioners’ interpretation of impairments (range of motion, oedema and pain) and whether these impairments would affect daily activities (1). 💡 Perspectives This suggests that some patients who are not identified by healthcare practitioners could benefit from supervised rehabilitation. There are currently no guidelines on how to identify these patients. Shared decision-making may be an effective way of linking the healthcare practitioner’s knowledge and experience with the patient’s resources, values and preferences to (2) determine the best rehabilitation approach after surgery for a distal radius fracture. 🧾 Read more 1) Susanne Boel, Carsten Juhl. These devices are essential for post-surgical therapy in cardiac patients, as the cardiovascular system requires extensive care and monitoring following surgical procedures. Hemodynamic monitoring devices are primarily used for the medical analysis of cardiac health, assessing the quality and durability of life for individuals undergoing and recovering from cardiovascular surgery. These devices measure critical parameters such as blood pressure, cardiac output, and oxygen saturation using a variety of equipment, including photometric, electrical, and pressure-transducing tools. #hemodynamicmonitoring #hemodynamicdevices #patientmonitoring #criticalcare #cardiovascularhealth #medicaldevices
