Genuine Connections: Tales of Triumph in Talent Acquisition As some of you may know, I've recently embarked on a new adventure as a TA specialist at TalentGrub. In these initial weeks, I've been immersing myself in the world of talent acquisition, facing challenges and seizing opportunities for growth. One of the main hurdles I've encountered is mastering the art of crafting an engaging pitch and connecting with candidates effectively. This includes navigating the intricacies of phone conversations and ensuring I ask the right questions to uncover the best talent. 🎇 Today marked a significant moment in this journey! 🎆 I hopped on a call with a potential candidate, expecting the usual back-and-forth. But from the get-go, there was this amazing alignment. It was evident from the start that there was a strong rapport! What made it even better was when the candidate gave me some seriously encouraging feedback at the end of the call saying, “You know what, I have been receiving calls from recruiters and this has been the best till now because without wasting anyone's time, you were direct and authentic”. Which conveys it was a breath of fresh air compared to other recruiter calls they'd had. As someone relatively new to this gig, it meant the world. It got me thinking about the power of being genuine in our professional lives. Building real connections, not just ticking boxes. This interaction was a prime example of that. Of course, there have been challenges along the way, particularly in maintaining engagement during conversations, especially when candidates are less receptive. But with each challenge comes an opportunity to learn and grow, and I'm embracing it wholeheartedly. Through these early experiences, I've come to realize the importance of staying motivated and avoiding self-doubt. Curiosity and a willingness to learn have become my guiding principles, I've sought guidance from my manager, who has been a constant source of support and encouragement. His insights during our one-on-one sessions have been invaluable, helping me refine my approach and boost my confidence. Each day brings new insights and learning opportunities, and I'm excited to embrace them as I continue to grow in my role at TalentGrub. So, shoutout to that candidate for making my day, and to all of you for being part of my journey in talent acquisition. Let’s talk about looooong hiring processes... So the process is dragging out? It happens. But how do we fix this internally? One solution is to track your team's "Time to Hire." Measuring this gives you insight into where things are slowing down and helps you streamline the process. An efficient hiring process not only saves time but also boosts the candidate experience, making your organization more attractive to top talent. Let’s be honest—no one wants to wait 2+ weeks to hear back after an interview or go through 5+ rounds of interviews... for what?! 🤯 🗣️COMMUNICATION is one area that’s often overlooked. Keeping candidates in the loop during the process is crucial. Silence causes uncertainty, anxiety, and can make candidates feel "ghosted" by the company, which leaves a negative impression. A quick update—whether you’re still deciding, need more time, or have made a decision—can make all the difference. It shows respect for the candidate’s time and keeps doors open for future opportunities. If your hiring feels sluggish, tightening up communication and tracking your Time to Hire could be the fix. Also, make sure you're communicating internally with stakeholders to work on shortening those drawn-out interview processes. As recruiters, we often have to push back and advocate for our candidates.
