In the primary treatment process, the first stop the wastewater makes is the screen and aerated grit chambers, where debris and garbage are separated then taken to a landfill. This stage of the water cleaning process is also called the mechanical cleaning process, during which screens filter objects such as paper, rocks, and other debris. Whether its logs & debris blocking our spill gates, ice in front of an intake or water stacked against a trash rack, we always need a solution. Floating trash, gunny bags, dead animals, ice, logs, and other debris have serious consequences for owners of dams and power plants. This is idea proven solutions no matter the location or severity of the problem. A study shows that It is estimated that 1.25 to2.50 million tons of plastic are entering the ocean each year from rivers. More than half of this plastic is less dense than the water, meaning that it will not sink once it encounters the sea.

Stormwater washes improperly discarded plastic bags and other litter into local waterways where it poses a risk to wildlife and reduces water quality. As streams and currents carry it along, some litter of the Richmond region will find its way to the Chesapeake Bay and eventually the Atlantic Ocean, becoming marine debris. Consumer debris, consisting of single use plastic products, is the most common type of marine debris. The Don't Trash Central Virginia Campaign aims to prevent litter from traveling into our waterways by addressing the problem of litter at its source. Sewer blockages caused by fat, oil and grease (FOG) are a significant environmental challenge. FOG, commonly produced by restaurants and food processing facilities, can often lead to costly blockages in sewers and drains, impacting both the public and the environment. EcoClarity is collaborating with water companies to tackle these issues. By implementing efficient FOG disposal methods, our partnerships aim to reduce the frequency and severity of blockages, lower associated clean-up costs, and promote sustainability as we convert this waste into valuable resources. 🔗 Read more https://lnkd.in/dDBT6F5W #FOGManagement #EnvironmentalProtection #GreenerFuture #ResourceRecovery
