Patients Know Best is hiring a senior account manager- what does one do? On Sarah Shinn’s first day she took me to visit all our Sussex customers. https://lnkd.in/emncpnAv I had been trying to switch on their test results for their patients - North West London had shown it was possible at scale, every patient said it was desirable at speed, let’s go! Sarah sat me down with individual leaders in the hospitals. My job was not to explain but to understand. What did these hospitals need? It’s very difficult to run a hospital. Releasing data to patients is one of many priorities. What were the problems? Procurement had focused on PKB releasing cash by preventing postage, it had not yet resourced working on test results. PKB provides advice and a default delay for test results, but busy clinicians had to review and sign off. Other busy clinicians panic that the release will make them busier - it saves them time, but you have to discuss that with them. Did I mention that Sarah joined three months before Covid hit the NHS? Only after she listened did she start to talk. Over the following months she brought leadership teams on-board. Today, every week Sussex releases 1.5 million test results and I get messages from patients who are happy about this. Watch the video of one patient, Ellie. Join Sarah to help Ellie.
