I have been commenting for years on the lamentable state of the UK Armed Forces after years of defence cuts. To make it clear, I think that our service men and women are first class, the majority of our weapons systems and equipment is highly capable and effective, we just don' t have enough people and inventory. The problem with having a smaller number of highly capable systems is that the impact on your overall defence capability when one system (vessel, airframe whatever) is lost, is potentially very serious and cannot be filled quickly. As for personnel, it takes years to train a combat pilot to the point where they are front-line qualified -the effect on defence capability of losing a pilot is very serious. Lions led by donkeys. Our senior service people need to grip the politicians and make sure they understand the realities of our modern world and complexity of the multiple threat matrices we currently face. https://lnkd.in/eES-dmDM
