Research shows that calming, supportive environments play a critical role in mental health treatment. That’s why we’re proud to announce that the residential program at the NBBJ-designed Montage Health Ohana Center for Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health is now open. With inspiring views of the stunning Monterey, CA, landscape, private rooms, abundant natural light and open spaces with high ceilings, the 16-bed residential program creates a welcoming embrace inside and out, fostering a sense of comfort reflective of Ohana, a Hawaiian term for "extended family." Representation plays a crucial role in mental health care. It is essential for individuals to see themselves reflected in the healthcare system, as it promotes a sense of belonging and understanding. When people from diverse backgrounds are represented, it helps break down barriers and reduces stigma. #Inclusion #MentalHealthAwareness #CulturallyCompetentCare #TherapyWorks #BlackMentalHealth #CenteringElements #DiverseTherapists #BreakTheStigma #TherapistTuesday #CulturalCompetency #RepresentationMatters

𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲. It’s a concept often banded about, but when we think about it, #community is of core importance for all of us. Whether it’s our family, friends, sports team, local parents group, university club – 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑚𝑢𝑛𝑖𝑡𝑖𝑒𝑠 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑤ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒 𝑤𝑒 𝑓𝑒𝑒𝑙 𝑙𝑖𝑘𝑒 𝑤𝑒 𝑏𝑒𝑙𝑜𝑛𝑔 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑚𝑎𝑡𝑡𝑒𝑟. Togetherall is a community all its own, where typical aspects of our identities aren't actually part of the equation. Individuals on Togetherall connect through experiences and feelings. Everyone is anonymous and all members are free to express themselves in a safe and judgement-free space; their struggles of the day, their challenges with a mental health condition, their issues with home or family, or something that they simply don't feel comfortable discussing with their inner circle. It’s a unique place, overseen by licensed #mentalhealth practitioners, 24/7/365, meaning that anyone can log on at any time, post what they’re going through and/or respond to someone else, and always have the safeguarding of clinical oversight. 🌼 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥. How can cities improve and support the mental health of adolescents and young adults around the world? My coauthors and I explore these questions in our newly published manuscript in Nature. Our data suggest that a defining theme of any mental health friendly city for youth is the quality of young people’s social fabric and the city’s ability to provide young people with the skills, opportunities and places required to build and maintain healthy social relationships with their peers, across generations, and as members of a community. Access to behavorial health services in nursung homes has been generally considered inadequate. At CHE, we recognize that best practices in behavioral health in LTC settings requires a "systems-level" approach. To that end, CHE psychologists, clinical social workers, and other qualified mental health specialists work to support not only the resident, but those invested in the resident's care and quality of life, including staff and family caregivers. By working as an essential and integral part of the interdisciplinary care team, the psychologist supports person-centered, individualized treatment recommendations that help maximize positive outcomes and improve the resident's emotional and physical well-being. #BehavioralHealth #NursingHomes #LTC #MentalHealth #QualityOfLife #InterdisciplinaryCare #PersonCenteredCare #behavioralhealthpartner #behavioralhealthprovider #mentalhealthpartner #PositiveOutcomes #EmotionalWellBeing #che #PhysicalWellBeing #readytotalk #readytolisten
