The contribution the Rijkswaterstaat have made in the Netherlands with the introduction of their Environmental Cost Indicator to create a level playing field where sustainable solutions are made viable by penalising embodied carbon and other recognised environmental impacts at the costing stage of the project. After the success of our 2nd Annual Conference on Foundation Decarbonization and Re-use, we cordially invite you to submit an abstract for our next edition, taking place from March 25-27, 2025, in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Abstract Submission Deadline: August 1 📅 The first two editions were most successful with eminent specialists from all over the world addressing this topic. From historical foundations, like timber piles in Amsterdam, to the more recent concrete piles for bridges in the 20th century, the main question remains: how do you assess the bearing capacity of existing foundation piles, for which the original design and construction data are no longer available? How do you address the remaining service life of concrete, timber or steel piles that were installed previously and may have degenerated to a certain extent? This conference is the forum where these topics will be discussed and experience is exchanged. In this third edition of the conference, we will try to dive deeper into the different aspects of foundation decarbonization and reuse, through our now common pattern of four sessions dedicated to the vision of the client, the design aspects associated with this topic, the assessment of existing foundations, and finally the innovations and experiences in the construction phase.
