Globally, Nature For Justice (N4J) uses nature to positively impact frontline communities confronting the climate crisis. We co-create projects that put communities first and act as powerful vehicles for social justice, community resilience, and adaptation to climate change. We scale our impacts through the aggregation of those communities. Our approach to delivering #socialjustice at scale explained in 6 steps:

Join us on Friday, May 31 at 12:30pm ET for a discussion about centering community well-being in planning for climate-induced relocation. Community-driven relocation is an approach that puts affected communities at the center of policy, planning, and implementation processes that become necessary when extreme events lead to displacement. As climate change worsens extreme events, chronic stress, and historical inequalities, putting people first is more important than ever. Sign up to learn more about the nuances of community-driven relocation and its implications for community well-being. "Climate instability has already devastated people and communities across the U.S. and around the world. And what we’ve seen to date only represents the tip of a (melting) iceberg. The community development sector will play a critical role in the work of responding to, perhaps even averting, the impacts of climate disruption on our most vulnerable communities." - Jamal J. Lewis, Rewiring America. Learn how we can make a sustainable future attainable for all by downloading his #WhatsPossible essay: bit.ly/4bcCG9R

As someone who recently moved to the climate haven city of Buffalo, NY, I've been closely following the patterns of climate migration. Bloomberg's latest article highlights a crucial issue: despite intensifying heat and storms, many Americans are relocating to regions increasingly vulnerable to climate change impacts. The article underscores the need for informed decisions and better planning to ensure safer, more resilient communities in the face of climate threats. In Buffalo, we see a unique opportunity to build a community that can thrive amidst these challenges. It's more important than ever to prioritize sustainability and resilience in our urban planning and community development efforts. Let's lead the way in creating safer, more sustainable places to live. #climatemigration #sustainablecities https://lnkd.in/dj-C9bp4

After a disaster, it's key to rebuild our communities with care and fairness. The guide 'Achieving Equitable Recovery' helps local leaders do this by building strong relationships, focusing on fair treatment for all, and choosing equitable recovery projects- A great tool for creating resilient, more inclusive communities. #disasterrecovery #communitybuilding #inclusivity
FEMA's newly released guide offers insightful strategies for equitable disaster recovery, focusing on inclusive community rebuilding. It's a valuable resource for local leaders, featuring tools for assessing needs and engaging the public. At B&D Environmental, we recognize the importance of such frameworks in climate resilience efforts. We're here to support local governments in understanding and applying these recommendations, enhancing their journey towards sustainable and equitable communities. #ClimateResilience #EquitableRecovery #CommunityBuilding

The urgency for climate justice action has never been clearer. Earth Day is our opportunity to redouble our efforts to advance systems-level and interdisciplinary solutions to addressing climate risk and supporting those enduring disproportionate impact--frontline communities, children, and youth among other populations. We need nonprofits, universities, corporates, and public sector partners at every level to join the collaborative solution space. Earth Day is a poignant reminder of the interdependencies among all life forms on this fragile planet--and of the imperative to protect it for generations to come. CEC thanks and commends our partners in the climate justice community for advancing a collective vision for an Earth Day driven by new commitments, new approaches, and climate action that all respond to this moment. #EarthDay #ClimateJustice #ClimateEquityCollaborative #ClimateEquity

👪 Today is the International Day of Families, which emphasizes the roles families play in society. This year marks the 30th anniversary of this observation, and the theme is ‘Families & Climate Change: International Year of the Family + 30,’ which aims to raise awareness of how climate change impacts families and the role families can play in climate action. This theme focuses on empowering families through education, changing consumption habits, and advocacy. Families pass values across generations, so instilling sustainable habits and climate awareness in families is important for future generations. “Lawmakers…some of them will do this consciously and some of them will inadvertently pit different people of different social movements against each other by telling them, ‘I’d love to do something about climate change but we have to do something about housing equity or we have to do something about educational equity’ – these aren’t mutually exclusive topics.” - Alex Rodriguez Alex Rodriguez is an Environmental Justice Specialist at Save the Sound, a regional environmental organization restoring and protecting the waterways and endangered ecosystems of Long Island Sound which has ripple effects that improve the well-being of local communities. Black and Brown communities, often facing multiple socio-economic challenges, are more likely to bear disproportionate impacts caused by weather events. These communities are also more likely to face challenges in accessing the resources necessary to adequately prepare for these events and to recover physically, mentally, and economically afterward. He seeks to infuse these approaches across Save the Sound programs, collaborating with other departments in climate and water as well as broader community-led climate efforts to ensure an intersectional approach to solutions that will equip people with better policies and resources to prepare for, respond to, and recover from climate impacts. Over the last year the Inclusive Climate Action programme at C40 Cities has had the pleasure of working with The Scottish Government through their Climate Justice Fund to support cities in Africa, Asia and South America to pilot local policies and programmes on #lossanddamage, #justtransition and innovative approaches to #inclusiveclimate action. The partnership has been instrumental in driving forward urban solutions to the most pressing climate and socio-economic challenges in tandem, as well as supporting our global advocacy on the important subnational dimension of #lossanddamage and #justtransition in key forums. I am thrilled to share a few recently launched resources that showcase the outcomes of this work including: 📚 This incredible interactive piece on the action being taken at local level on urban #lossanddamage across a range of cities including snapshots of city action, quotes, photos and more: https://lnkd.in/eb2QsGqX ⚡ Brand new case studies of actions being piloted at local level in a range of cities on #lossanddamage #justtransition and #inclusiveclimateaction https://lnkd.in/eTWYmGYr ✊ A first of its kind youth report on #lossanddamage that provides youth perspectives from cities on this key intergenerational equity issue https://lnkd.in/eZ2Wk6eg 📽 An animated explainer video on the urban dimensions of #lossanddamage https://lnkd.in/ezT79tmH Please do dive in and welcome any questions on any of this work.
