Amazon is increasing its stake in Grubhub to as much as 18% and expanding its partnership with the food delivery service to allow US users to order takeout directly on Amazon’s website and shopping app. A Prime subscription in the US will also come with a free Grubhub+ membership. For Grubhub parent Just Eat Takeaway, the partnership could help temper the double-digit declines it’s seen in orders and gross transaction value in the North American market. Meanwhile, the firm has been contending with weak demand for food deliveries in Europe, its home region. Competition between food-delivery firms in the US has also been intense. Grubhub’s market share in the US has been on a steady decline since 2021, reaching around 8% in March, according to Bloomberg Second Measure data. It trails behind DoorDash Inc., which holds a 67% lead, and Uber Technologies Inc., which has 23%.

Also, the free Grubhub+ for Amazon Prime members just got extended indefinitely. Love it!

Thanks for the warning. I don’t shop at Amazon, and its entertainment venture is just as racist as the rest, offering no opportunities for free expression. Bezos, especially, aims to destroy free markets so he can control everything. Why should I support a company that monopolizes and exploits people like Amazon does? People say, "Oh, aren’t you afraid he’ll blacklist you from employment at his company or that people in the industry will marginalize you further?" To make matters even more absurd, he plays both sides as a big Democratic contributor. It’s a chess game where he is both players, both sides against the middle: the American consumer. And to answer my own question, at this point in my life, I’ve been marginalized simply because I’m supposed to be acquiescent, so I won’t notice the difference. I’ve been there for quite a while. Seeing him on his huge yacht with his surgically enhanced friend is like staring into the mouth of our own purgatory.

This is an interesting partnership. According to our latest sentiment analysis based on recent reviews, Grubhub experienced a significant drop in customer satisfaction, which aligns with the decline in market share.
